the owners manual cautions ppl from doing that. Especially having your gen running while the pig tail is connected to the truck.
I have a Onan 5500.... not a huge fan. The thing has been nothing but trouble. Currently my gen sits won't start. Im thinking this is a problem with the floats or needle in the carb. It doesn't sound like its not getting fuel. I haven't had a chance to tare into it yet. Im not sure how much I'll be able to accomplished these carbs are CARB compliant which means their sealed and prevent you from tampering with them. Good ol CA... Anyone with any experience with these machines feel free to chime in.
You can take the bowl off. The "altitude adjustment" screw is actually the main jet and sits in a little pocket at the bottom of the bowl. Takes very little debris or tarnish to make things go south. A quick test is to see if the drain screw flows with a solid stream or drips. If it just drips it need to be cleaned out.

Agree...
These carbs are so simple, I bet my 9 year old grand-niece could take it apart and put it back together again..
Finally installed the awning support poles brackets today. They needed some rework and I've been putting it off. But wifey wanted it done, as I never leave the awning out because the 21 foot sail scares me.
I know you posted this a few months ago.. Where did you get this setup? Are they Busted Knuckle?

Mine were made by old coot, but the poles came from Busted Knuckle. The revised bracket design by busted knuckle looks nicer. I take the poles off for transport. Those claw anchors sure do look nice too.
Got some mods done on the RV. Had a small water leak when pressure filling last month and took the access panel off to investigate. That got fixed under warranty, but every RV I've had that dumb panel comes off at least twice a year, and saw more dead space than usual. Decided to kill two birds with one stone.
View into storage from factory.
The dead space.
Much more useful space (sorry... crappy pic)
Access panel is now hinged, used magnetic latches to keep closed.
Already has saved me unscrewing it once, since the clowns at the dealer screwed up a pex fitting fixing the faulty valve. Which we only discovered since they put two of the valves ***** on backwards.

Old Coot and Busted Knuckle are two different people? I know there's two guys making these.. I have newer Momentum and Grand Design decided to use Carefree awnings which are far from Carefree, so I'm planning on these supports soonish.. I had a Cougar that had the Lippert Awning, while it wasn't as nice looking, it was very stout for an electric awning.. It saw some wind in it's life with me and I never had any problems..

Yes they are different people. They are buddies over on FRF. Cooter may be done making them, he was saying he was giving it up when I got mine. As far as I know Busted Knuckle took over production. You can go see the ramblings over on forest river forums if you desire. I don't go there very often.
The plastic hatches on the skirt of my toy hauler were replaced with weekend. One had a door that didn't fit well and both were yellowing. I replaced both hatches with this: Ultra-Fab Products 48-979010 Chrome Universal Access Door.
The old hatch had butyl tape between it and the skirt. I'm not sure why as there is no need to seal it. That was fun getting rid of all the tape. There is still enough residue of the tape that you can see that the new hatch isn't an exact fit, but it's close enough that once the residue is gone nobody (but me) will know.

I started to have the same problem trying to get my Onan 5500 to start. I make it a point to start it at least once a month if not using it out and about.
For me, the butterfly choke valve started sticking open. So without a choke, these guys just won't start. You'll smell plenty of fuel so you know that's not the issue.
Pull off the air cleaner and wiggle the butterfly. If like mine, it didn't take much to move. Once closed...Bingo, started right up.
A drop or two of thin oil can help on the pivot point sleeves.
Nice!! We picked up our new '17 350M June 10.. Going through it now, swapping over all the "attached" accessories from the sold Cougar, plus several new ones! Tweetys, Progressive Dynamics and Amazon love me..
Some minor mods today. We use the garage as the baby's room, but the night shades weren't cutting it, and the top window had no blinds at all. Just too bright. Was going to attempt to tint, but found these Camco door window covers were a good fit. Tops were perfect and bottoms needed a bit of trimming. It is now DARK in there for minimal cost and aggravation. They are velcroed on so they can be rolled up if not needed so the windows don't overheat.
Also added these ugly obnoxious decals to the doors. Last trip kiddo was leaning on the door, I opened it and he came flying out. I caught him just before he hit the steps, but it scared the ***** out of me, him, and mom who saw it happen. Trying to remember to knock is hard, this ugly reminder should help. Don't ever want to repeat that.
Either I need to stick to smooth pavement or replace the latches on my drawers and cabinets. Since it's almost impossible to get to good camping spots without going off-pavement I need to fix the latches. Can anyone recommend a good latch? I only want to do this once so a high quality latch is in order.
I see latches rated at 5 lb and 10 lb. Most reviews say to go with 10 lb in an RV.
I thought about rigging up some 10 lb magnets on the end of each drawer but I would need to fabricate a frame to put the other half of the magnet on inside the cabinet.

When my kids were young I put magnetic child lock latches on all the drawers and cabinets, they were strong and worked really good
Not the exact ones but you get the idea, the ones I used attached with short screws not double sided tape
