I like the tilting aspect of it as it could really help in winter conditions with extra output. :-)

Yeah it wasn't really planned like that from the onset but it seemed worthwhile once I saw it was going to be a possibility. I tam going to try and source some adjustable struts but may just end up with some pre-made 30*-45* length struts if I can't find some simple struts.

Looks great CarterCraft! And good job keeping this thread going! We are selling or trading our trailer off the end of this year so no more mods from me, just maintaining functionality to ride out 2 more trips. Will be giving up the TH in favor of a mid bunk 5th.

For the past couple of years I've been dealing with a cabinet door that wouldn't stay closed. The latch would sometimes work and other times, not. I put on a child safety lock, but it didn't stay because the stile isn't real wood. It's MDF or something like that. The finish is a stick-on plastic veneer. I eventually duct taped the door closed, which worked pretty well until I tried to take the tape off. Today I decided enough was enough. I couldn't match the color of the stile and I didn't want to have to figure out a way to put in a stile made of real wood. The fix was to create an aluminum bracket for the stile. The aluminum takes the force from the latch instead of the stile.

Here's what I started with. I put glue into the crack and then clamped it.

The aluminum bracket before installation.

The bracket in place. I believe the magnetic latch is rated at 15 lbs. I got it for about sixty cents on the clearance rack at the local hardwood lumber store.

Has anyone added rails to their rear door to make a patio?

I'd like to find some rails to convert my ramp into a patio.

I did it on my 2016 Shockwave and it came out very good. I ordered a cable kit from Dirt Warrior, The kit came with brackets and cables. The lower brackets that mounted to the ramp door looked just like the factory forest river brackets. I didn't use the brackets that mount to the door frame as they did not mount or look like the factory set up, and would put too much twisting leverage on the frame. I made my own brackets that pulled from the backside of the entire upper corner of the door frame like the factory bracket does. My best advice to you would be to go and look a a new factory trailer as close to your trailer as possible and try to copy it. That's what I did.
Hope this helps.
Mark

Do you have the cable's yet? The patio kits are for trailers with the factory cable's already installed.

It's built good, extruded aluminum, we don't have the glass, you loose about 6" of garage length.

With the understanding that I have a 2006 model toy hauler from a company that went bankrupt in 2009 (Fleetwood), there is no way I would turn my ramp into a patio. My main reason is that the RV repair shop at my storage lot did a repair on the cargo frame of another Fleetwood toy hauler that uses the exact same cargo door (and frame) that is on mine. The upper portion of the cargo door frame started to come apart from the rest of the trailer. It was a repair that cost the owner about $1,000. They had to use a front loader to reinstall the cargo door frame.

My point being that adding stress to the cargo door frame isn't something I want to do.

question regarding your toy hauler since you are towing with SRW. Does your pin weight change much when the toy hauler is loaded? Also how does the 350 handle with that much added to your payload.
Thanks...
