update

Old wiring harness is finally out of Eleanor. Made a list of internals that I will replace just in case, since the dash is already out:
1. Heater core
2. Heater blower
3. windshield wiper motor
4. sound deadener

Anybody have any other suggestions?

Add a layer of heat insulation with the deadener, will keep it cooler in summer and warmer in the winter...

sound deadener and heat insulation it is.

Any one have recommendations on sound deadener? I have read a lot of builds, and everyone has different thoughts it seems.

I was happy with the stuff I got from eBay... it's a Dynomat knock-off, but good sound insulation and went on good. Called GTMAT.

I feel ya on this - I don't even have a tree. Just a wide open mud pit that's supposed to be a yard.

We laugh about it now. My buddy with the pole barn asked how we got so much done with our weather the way it is, and has been with Eleanor being outside.

The response is as most; Beer and pizza, that's how we got it done.

Now that we are in the pole barn, its now beer and chicken wings. Moving up in the world.

I used Second Skin Damplifier Pro in my Mustang. Seems OK, but nothing special as far as I'm concerned. I ordered GTMAT for my crew cab. In my opinion sounds deadeners are overrated and don't provide as much benefit as at least I would want them to.

Would I re-use SS? Yes, but I'm not for my truck because I want to form my own opinion on the quality and perceived improvement I see between SS in my Mustang and GTMAT in my truck.

I'm working off the premise that something is better than nothing when it comes to what I use for sound deadener, w/o going for the cheapest or most expensive options out there.

I haven't settled on a heat insulator myself, so I too am interested in what others recommend.

BTW - On the GTMAT/GT Sound Control website I saw that they are offering 15% off all orders right now.

Sound deadener, as much as you can afford. haha

I jumped the gun on installing some, knowing I will be fighting it back off later with all the body work I need to do, but that's years away with the rate mine gets work done to it and I wanted to hear my own thoughts in the meantime. I used Rufco Shield (household application) as a buddy gave me a case of it for free and I know it's temporary, 2 layers on the full floor, firewall and rear cab wall. The doors I did inside of outer skin, both sides of inner skin and inside of the panel, complete overkill and you can feel the weight added when swinging the door but it did a good job.

I have some unorthodox ideas on what I will do in the future but want to be able to hear my little one clearly at a soft voice/volume with her in the back seat. After body work it will get bed liner, peel-stick of mid to high quality then Jute insulation and carpet on top of that. Will also be using Pour Foam in the Rockers (boxing them in) and the pillars. Should be effective overkill.

I guess my situation is kinda like yours ODDFORDJUNKIE. While assembling my truck I ended up with a last minute self imposed deadline, and my wife was starting to give me mean looks every time UPS showed up. Inside upper firewall, rear floor and rear of cab did not get rubber mat. Also with the knowledge I have gleaned since driving my truck for 14 months that I should have did something on the engine side of the firewall and cowl. At interstate speeds elevated voices and repeated sentences are the norm, phone conversations are strained and Siri REALLY pisses me off because she cant understand what I'm trying to say. When I'm by myself its a little easier since most of the conversation takes place in my head. These issues will be addressed but time is hard to come by nowadays.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale... 15% is quite a bit actually.

overkill is non-existent. Not when it comes to comfort and conversation with our future generations of hot rodders and mud runners in our back seats.

My biggest source of noise is running the ZF5, even when these trannies are new they are noisy and I listen to my Input bearing spinning the whole time. The plan was to rebuild it before install but I grenaded 1st gear in the C6 and just slapped it in, nothing like redoing work multiple times when you rely on driving your project.
