Tech support time from you...the FTE experts

Two things as I am ordering parts like a bi-polar woman hooked on scrap booking and meth:

1. Has anyone used vintage air on their set up? Or know someone who has? It looks like the heater core is included, which would solve some problems for me since I am under the dash anyway and planning on replacing both the heater core and the blower (both look to be included).
If you, or someone you know has set one up, please share (or provide a link) and let me know if I am going the right way or if its **** in a box that only space engineers can handle.

2. 1996 donor truck has the intermittent windshield wipers. I have the whole switch from the column. We may be utilizing it. Question, will that work on my windshield wiper motor from the 1978, or do I need to replace the motor as well, or am I simply sniffing too much glue and missed something that says "wont work no matter what". As I am replacing the windshield wiper motor any way, cause its a PITA and I am already in there, I thought, wonder if this could work.
So? Could it?

1) Can't help you on vintage air, but I'd love to see people's responses on this. I am wondering if one of their setups will be enough to cool a crew cab.

2) While this doesn't specifically answer your question I will note that adding intermittent wipers on our trucks is pretty easy. There is a plug in box really that you can grab from any truck from '79-'86 if I remember right. It will plug right in to the truck. If you do a search for intermittent wipers here in the '73-79 forum you should get lots of hits with the info.

Awesome. I appreciate the input as it relates to the wipers.

I kind a wondered the same thing about the size of the cab. Hopefully someone here has a buddy who has done it. If not, maybe I'll be the guinea pig and take one for the team.

Thanks. It more of a musing instead of a thread, via a maniacal idiot who is fumbling through a process to which there is no blue print nor reference manual. Thus, filled with many colorful words not typically good for the soul...

Agreed. I think it takes someone "special" to attempt the things we do. Not sure if its short bus special, or unicorns farting rainbows special, but special none the less.

CRAZY WEEKEND

I meant to get to Eleanor Saturday. But my kid got sick. Long story short, didn't get to turn a wrench.
But I did manage to buy another project for when Eleanor's done. Figured it was relevant to share here because technically it is a Ford, at heart.

Its a 1967 MGB with either a 1970 or 1971 Ford 302.

Too sexy not to share in regards to what this thing will be capable of.

Neat MGB!

Those are sweet little cars. I couldn't ever own one though... I'm too tall! I've sat in them before and it just ain't comfy when you're 6'0 and 90% of you is legs.

Love it! I drove a 1970 MG Midget for 16 years. Same colour as yours. But mine had a piddly little 1275cc engine. (That's the equivalent of 78 cubic inches!) A friend of mine and I lifted it into the car by hand.

Thanks. Yea, I may be a little tall for it as well, but I will make it work!

That's frikin awesome. I mean, may not have been the fastest, but to do an engine pull with a buddy and some strong backs, that's crazy!

I've been running the Vintage Air Gen IV system for two engines and about 6 years. It was their biggest evaporator system at the time, may still be. Have to trim about 3/8" wide, 7" long on bottom of dash where it rolls under towards firewall to fit the unit in. Not noticeable unless you lay on your back in the floor. Trouble free except while I had the truck down for 6 months installing 6BT the heater valve shorted out while it was down. Had to replace with newer upgraded unit. Blows lots of 45-48* air. If you insulate the cab it should do well. Customer service is good too

That is fantastic information. Sounds like we may have a winner in regards to heating and cooling in Eleanor.

On a side note. Wild Horses got back with me, they are doing the bumper for me, based on the F250 frame, so as to accommodate 2 swings arms, both holding a 37" MTR.
Going to take 8-12 weeks to get it, but obviously Eleanor won't be going to far during that time. Does give me a window of "complete this done by" type thing.
