My biggest source of noise is running the ZF5, even when these trannies are new they are noisy and I listen to my Input bearing spinning the whole time. The plan was to rebuild it before install but I grenaded 1st gear in the C6 and just slapped it in, nothing like redoing work multiple times when you rely on driving your project.
I had this same issue when I ran the 4bt and ZF5. Noisy tranny. I started putting Royal Purple oil in it and made a immediate improvement. Its been awhile but I think it was called Synchromesh or something similar...
Saw one guy's ZF5 swap where he used two tunnel covers welded together with a 1 1/2" air space that he foam filled and said it was a Huge improvement, I will do something similar but I can hear my input bearing at idle so don't want to do a "Turn up the radio" type of fix until after an actual trans rebuild.
I will look into the Royal Purple for post rebuild.
Aside from my trans, noise issue #2 is that I haven't replaced the near non-existent weatherstrip and seals in doors/windows. The Truck Shop in Ca seems to be the cheapest but again it's a lower priority in relation to finances.

at least you're capable enough to have a driving project. I live to far from my clients that I couldn't take the chance, let alone the time.
I've done a 300 mile trip with the wife 7 months prego, half of that was a snow storm and we found out the thermostat was stuck open and we had no heat.
So the wiring is out. Really wasn't much effort, as there isn't much there from the factory. But, if no pictures, it didn't happen, right?

Reference picture for myself...
These may need improved upon due to the girth of the donor's harness
It really isn't that much wiring by comparison to what's going in
There really won't be much room for:
1. error
2. wiring
Too late to turn back now
Going to need help from you guys. I can't seem to find the piece that ties to the heater control online for sale (NOS, or anything). The plastic is broke in the back for where the heater cables are. Anybody got an idea where I could get one without buying a whole nother truck?
The window to "modern-ish" technology for the donor's computers
Between work, the truck, and other stuff, our annual-ish escape from reality couldn't have come soon enough.
Our favorite place also has a favorite saying:

laying pipe (not really, more like limp noodles here)...
Now that my head was cleared after the mini-vacation, time to lay out the harness to see where everything needs to go.
Before I do, word to the wise. When flying out of O'Hare airport, a 1996 CC with 35" tires and an 8ft box will fit, just barely, in their short term and valet parking. (yes, I valet parked Lucifer. Ran out of time to find a spot to accommodate the behemoth.)
So we got everything roughed in to see where we will need to make modifications to the harness. Had to remove the hood to give us better angles to work in.
Also contacted Wild Horses about their 78-79 BIG BUBBA REAR BUMPER W/ TIRE RACK, Item #: PF310, modified to hold two tires versus just the one swing arm. Should hear today if its a go, including modifying to fit an F250 instead of the Full Size Bronco.
Wild Horses is still looking into my bumper thought. Looks doable on their end. Won't know for another week.
On a side note, looks like I will need to replace the front floor boards. While we were underneath removing some old wiring, noticed fiberglass. Closer look, and with a second opinion from the fab guy, it needs them replaced. But that's down the road.
For the rear bumper the Bronco's use a 37" width frame and your truck "should" be the 34" width frame. Just a heads up.
much appreciated on that. I let them know, and they assured me if they can do it, it will be built to my trucks frame versus using a bronco's frame measurements.

Don't envy driving a project too much. haha
I'm a little late on catching up on my reading. Have you fixed your tstat problem yet?
Trans-cooler kit is ordered. I went generic route through Summit, heavy duty. Hoping to install this weekend as well as dremel my firewall hole for the portal of "modern-ish technology". Pictures to come.
