I'm not saying that isn't possible. I was just addressing your assertion that there was nothing a police officer could do, by letting you know exactly what they could do.
Not sure what that means, you gonna fight him?
All kidding aside, if you had a creation like this, and it was registered in the manner you described, it wouldn't be legally registered.
I won't presume to know how LEO's work in your state better than you, but I do know the CHP down here are specifically trained to look for vehicles that aren't legal.
Stewart
we don't get alot of boarder hoppers here...but they are easy to spot with the DRL's (damn Canadians)
Yes it would be legally registered, the front frame firewall and door tag are all part of the f-250. Going by state law which can be different all over the country so some places it could not be...
Personally, i HIGHLY doubt you would EVER have an issue if you just updated your current f-250 registration when it ran out and kept the title the same to keep it clean but that may not be an option in other states that require a inspection..here the DMV or state never see's your car/truck so you could total it, fix it yourself and nobody would be the wiser. or like the guy i know that buys 2 with good titles and puts them together and sells them with the clean title.
Now, I am absolutely NOT an expert on the F-250 to Excursion conversion however I always thought it would be less work to cut the back of the F-250 and graft the top rear part of the Excursion on to it.
you have to put the excursion frame on because it is totally different from the pickup after the doors.
Although it wouldn't "look right", my GUESS is it would be registered as F250 only because of the VINs.
Your registration has to match the VIN, which in this case, all the VINs are coming from the 250.
Idk. Just a guess
The Excursion will be titled and insured as a 2012 Ford F250. The VIN tag from the 12 is on the cowl and on the drivers door pillar. The VIN tag from the EX was on the cowl and the drivers side front door. Not using the front doors from the Ex. So that VIN tag is gone. Not using the pillar from the 12 so the tag is gone. The only tag it will have is the 12 cowl tag. I doubt that many states will have a problem with it. Around here they consider it whatever 75 percent the truck is. In this case you have a complete 12 front end. Complete power train with axles. Plus complete fuel system and exhaust. Another good reason for titling it as such is it is easier to call a bank and borrow money against a 12 versus and 05 and get more money. The bank doesn't ask to see the truck so they would know what it was. Granted your not going to barrow what it cost to buy a truck and build it but it is a starting point.
Insurance you pay to insure the F250 as it was then you will have a second policy for the cost of all the modifications.
Forgive my ignorance but if there hasn't Bern any worry of rust in the last 10 years why will a few days make a difference

rust wreaks havoc with a weld. it causes holes/pits and weakens the weld. He spent a lot of time and money getting the frame clean...no reason to risk the integrity of the weld where the frames meet
