No new door fuel door. Putting it in the fender well behind a door. I think.
Leaving the Ex quarters the way they are and putting on the 12 fender flares
Hey, thanks.
Man, that DPF is really big. It looks like a tight fit to get it all in before getting to the tailpipe 'hump' over rear axle. But...there should be enough room considering the DPF was designed for shortest wheelbase pickup, which is the same 137" as the Excursion.
I also notice you are using the trailer connector from the F-250 but the original hitch from Excursion. Saves re-wiring the trailer connector. I have heard that the F-250 hitches won't work on rear of Excursion frame because of the shape/angle of the frame in the rear. It may also be due to fuel tank clearance issues(?).
Urea tank filler inside the rear door ought to work. I think it only has to be filled every few thousand miles.
Paul, this is great work. Gives me a reason to check the website every day.
Got the shocks installed, broke out to bottom of the tank for the sending unit out of the 12. Need to lengthen the sending unit hoses and rods. So the gauge reads right. Also started lengthening the fuel lines.
Are the rear shocks different from the excursion to the 2012?
They are staggered like the 2012. I had to order new shocks because the 12 has hols top and bottom and the Ex has a hole bottom and a bar through the top hole for a bolt on both sides. So yes they are different.
I am excited to see this finished up. There is a brand new 6 door Ex setting at the Ford dealership in Norman Ok off I-35 with a cool price tag of $139,000.00. Yes, you read right, $139K. I dont even like the 6 door look but I am drooling over your work on this.
About the earlier comments about cops not knowing or paying attention to vehicles. I can tell you from personal experience that your vehicle information is the first thing we look at on a traffic stop before we even walk up to the vehicle. If I have a dispatch officer tell me that I am out on an F-250 and I am staring at an SUV…. I am going to be very cautious in my contact with the driver, but I wouldnt just rip the people out of the car and impound it. I would inquire about the vehicle and why it returns to a truck and not an SUV. After it was all figured out and I listened to the owners explanation then I would be drooling and probably ask if I could sit behind the wheel!!! No but all kidding aside cops are trained to recognize vehicles and pay attention to the small details.

Fuel sending unit lengthened and installed, fuel lines all ran and hocked up, took the hitch back off and sanded and painted it with industrial paint. Fuel tank has to come back down to put the hitch back on because you can't get your hands in the frame to position the nuts/keepers for the hitch bolts and you defiantly can't do it when the body's on. Monday straighten up the wires and fuel lines, take the tank back down put up the hitch, reinstall the tank and transfer the fuel from the 12 into the Ex, fire her up and driver off the frame rack and set the body on the frame.
