Its a port for plugging in diagnostic equipment, called "OBD-II".

OBD-II is a port on the truck. Superchips Microtuners plug into them and program the truck's computer that way.

Have never measured Powerstroke Exhaust tempurature, but have owned them since 1993. I now have a 2002 F350 7.3 Powerstroke that I would like to keep. My question is: Does idling the engine (w/AC on) for long periods (2-3 hours) increase the exhaust temperature or cause wear? Also have a Hypertech, looks like a poor choice after reading posts here. Thanks for the help.

Don't know if I missed it, but does the Superchip 1705 allow the speed limiter to be set higher? 2002 F350 PSD 4X4 Crew

No, idling does not increase exhaust temps, heavy throttle does. Same goes for wear.

It does not allow you to manually set the limiter. In most cases it will automatically raise it.

Thank you for the information Ken. I am going to remove the Hypertech program from my truck and order the Superchips MT.

I ordered the tuner today. So since I never tow anything, the medium setting should be safe without installing a 4" downpipe?

Thanks for all the info.

Superchips Microtuner Now Has 3 Program Settings

Just drove roundtrip to the Texas Panhandle, 1600 miles with the new SuperChips MT (installed the hour before I left on perf tow), The power on the medium setting(90 HP) was really unbelievable compared to the Hypertech programmer I had used before. I did not tow anything. I also noticed the speed would advance beyond 95 MPH easily, especially when passing. The outside temperatures stayed 70 to 80 degrees so I guess that kept my exhaust temps about the same.
This is a very good product for increasing performance on the PSD. I also got 20+ MPG even at 75 - 80 MPH.

Thanks

Don't believe your mileage computer. Use the odometer to verify it because any chip or tuner throws off the mileage computer.

Your right my mileage computer shows 25.8 MPG. I drove 1483 miles on my odometer. I purchased 72 gallons of diesel including the 17 gallons this morning at home. So 1483 miles, divided by 72 gallons equals 20.60 MPG? Including the slowing and stopping in cities, plus idling. Best I ever had with the Hypertech was around 21 on the Mileage Computer and 17/18 figured the same way. I do notice that sometimes the diesel pumps do not seem accurate in their fuel delivery amounts. (on a few occaisions I have put 40 gallons in my 38 gallon tank, and it was still 1/4 full when i stopped) So all I can do is compare the fuel mileage to what I was getting, and given all the various factors in figuring fuel mileage I conclude the fuel mileage I am getting, has improved instead of going the other direction.

Either way the Superchips product works great, and provides the power it states it will. I was very surprised at the power increase. Passing vehicles on a single lane road easily, is one advantage that anyone who uses the Supertuner will notice, and feel safer doing it.

Thanks
