Steve - How's that job up the hill coming along? The owner still going to take a swing at it?
Waiting for a couple of bids to come back for groundwork and steel. If it's too big of a bite out of his budget I think he'll probably sell out. DWP has expressed an interest in the property, but I'm sure they want it real cheap.
Found out an interesting tidbit about that land while we were talking on the ride up last Friday; he bought it from the Eaton family, as in descendants of Fred: Frederick Eaton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So this was some of the land that Fred bought up back at the turn of the last century.
Anyways, I've got a couple of things going right now in the mean time...predictably, my phone started ringing not long after I committed to that job so I've got a couple of weeks work here, so I don't mind that it's stalled at the moment, and if it doesn't happen that's OK too. As beautiful a place as that would be to work, I really don't look forward to all the travel and being away from home for extended periods. But ya do what ya gotta, right?
I guess that was a helluva storm. Talked to John (Maxium 4x4) this morning...he's pretty much due East of Joe over in Ohio...and he's going to be without power for a few days.
Happy last day in June, and this is my last post as a single man, i will be getting married at 4 PM today. See you all in about a week, going to Cabo San Lucas.

The upside is that you were home when it happened instead of out here.

I was very grateful to be home yesterday...had to do a few things I don't think my wife could have easily done...I'm sure I could have talked her through them...but thankfully I was home!
Just got a new microwave/convection oven combo to replace the one that was blown out during the storm...found out the other one was 14 months old...called Sears to see if they could at least extend me a little bit of a discount since theirs stopped working 2 months out of warranty...they told me to go F-off (not exactly but basically)...so I told them I'd spend my money elsewhere if that's how they want to treat their customers...I was also speaking to one of the managers...Explained to them that I realized it was out of warranty...she explained to me they were having a 30% off sale...I said...yeah any customer walking up gets that deal...would you give me an additional 5% off and she said straight up NO...so I went to one of our local appliance stores...walked in and found a brand new unit with a damaged carton that was normally $500 but discounted to $320 because the box was damaged...opened the box there and everything was there and in PERFECT condition...so we bought a convection/microwave combo...our first one like this...Tracey is baking cheesecake cupcakes in it right now...we'll see!

"Sears is eventually going to 'go under'. What would it have cost them, five percent? Sheesh!"
She's pretty smart that way, Joe....

Yeah...5% off...It wasn't like I was asking for completely FREE replacement...I acknowleged I knew I was OUT OF WARRANTY...but she held her ground...and I spent my money ELSEWHERE!...
Isn't Sears and K-Mart the same parent company?...Look what has happened to K-Mart...and I agree with your wife pops...Sears will be following the SAME FATE!...and it is no surprise...
BTW...I am happy they said NO...because I found this convection oven...man is it pretty sweet...those cheesecake cupcakes...YUMMY!!!

I've been happily married for 25 years this August...can't imagine being single actually...not worth the headaches of training new people and having them train me...knowing your surroundings and routine is priceless!
