there is shovelheads which are the bigger bikes then there are ironheads which are sportsters that's what we have. They look exactly the same but the shovel head is a bit bigger and higher stroke I believe.

After getting trapped in the Black Hills, SD during the Blizzard with the 5th wheel, 3' of snow and deep drifts got the heck out of there and headed in to Utah via I70 from Denver couple of good climbs for sure. The truck held 42 mph in the climbs @ 4800 rpm @12,000+/- elevation, some beautiful views though. Now the goal for winter is to stay away from snow. Or should I say if I want snow I'll go to it instead of it coming to me.

Come on down to AZ, nice and warm and no white stuff.
Denny don't jinx it. LOL I know up here in northern Arizona the snow is coming unfortunetly. And it hasn't been very warm probably warmer then where scraprat is though.

We don't do the hiking part, do to the aging dog (14 years) and dogs aren't allowed on the trails does prevent some exploration of the parks but all of the road with the lookout stops and a small amount of walking. There just isn't enough time to see it all. Will have to come back at a later date to do more. Especially Goblin State park before the boy scouts push them all over . From a guy who was raised in the North East there is just so many great place to see out here in the west. Now on to AZ.
Spent the better part of the morning slathering the underside of the truck with fluid film. Bought the undercoating "system" that's available. Worked quite well although some areas are slathered up a little too well. Much different output than the aerosol can. I don't drive the truck a whole lot in the winter but in case I do. Plus having it sit in the driveway I don't need moisture creeping it's way to where it doesn't need to be and create rust!

That's a huge issue on E-Series! They sweat so badly that the OEM mats, both front and rear, absorb moisture over time where they become soaked through and through. Without attention rust begins inside, creeps outward and is mostly undetected for a long, long time.
I'll have to look into the Fluid Film's undercoating system---so far I've only applied it from a small can with brush top!

Well worth it, a much faster application. It's just a basic undercoating gun and the bulk gallon fluid film. I used around 65-75 psi. I use the aerosol cans for the pinch seams in the doors and tailgate. If I ever get a chance to buy a brand new truck I'd coat that thing day 1. That would truly show how effective Fluid Film is.
THIS is why I undercoat AND never drive it much during winter..... old pic but you get the idea. For you southerners that white residue is from road salt.
One of the things that I dislike is the steps, they look good but allow too much crap to come up under the door seems. I would rather have the solid black one like on the xl models, they keep a lot of the road debris from entering the bottom door seem/ Seal area.
When I had my 99 it had the open step style and I had a rust problem in the seam area. The next 2 tucks had the solid step and never had a rust problem in the seam area. This '12' truck has the open step and once again it seems as if everything from the road collect under the door.
