I'm not trying to start a "gas vs. diesel" war here , but I was bored sufring carmax.com to see if they had an X or two. I did a search and to my surprise, 23 came up. 19 of them had the V10 and 4 had the 5.4 V8. When I looked at how many miles they had, 12 out of the 23 were still under factory warranty. After seeing this, a thought occured to me; whoever had these vehicles before couldn't take the gas prices. My point here is: with gas prices the way they are, would you "suck it up" and deal with it? Or would you sell your truck? I ask this question with a mutual respect for the V10 and 5.4 owners.
Well right now I'm sucking it up because I happened into my V10. I wasn't looking for one but got a good deal on it. I'm used to big vehicles with poor gas mileage and always learned to deal with it because I need the big vehicle. Sure it would be nice to get 30mpg like my bassist's Honda Accord but those cars can't carry much so gas guzzler it is.
My X with a V10 serves its purpose very well. Gas prices are the main reason why our X is not a commuter car. The other reason is that it makes no sense to put commuter miles on such a beautiful and expensive rig. We bought a little Jetta for my wife to run around in and I drive a police interceptor.
We may drive other cars but we will never sell the X. We will cherish every gallon of gas we put in it and love every mile we drive it.
2000 Excursion 73K miles and paid for. Only worth about 17K. Why would I sell it? On the open road still get 14 - 15 mpg at 75 mph. Just fill her up and go. Very dependable. We still pay alot less than Euros. Those used V10 X's are a good deal, since somebody else took the hit for depreciation.

I for one will never let anyone else determine what I drive . I'm 6'4" and 270# and my 02 Excursion XLT is the first vehicle I've ever owned that let my left foot wander. I've always had to make do with the space I had. My 93 5.8L E-150 is next but it lacks the pure unencumbered leg room of the EX. If gas goes to $3/gal it still won't stop me from enjoying my ride. If the ecologist's want to drive a Scion then fine. I'll consider it my duty to put my front wheel on their hood . I have 8 vehicles in my personal fleet and only one is a 4 banger, none are a six. I love the power I get from all my V engines and will pay the piper every time I hit the pumps. I fill my EX's tank weekly and never bitch about the cost. A lot of people ask me why did I buy such a big SUV and I told them because it was the biggest I could find. If I could find one bigger (with a V-12 would be nice) I'd buy it. I saw a F-650 converted to a SUV on the Cowboy Caddilac site and it gave me a woody. They said it was $600/month but neglected to say how many decades I'm be paying. Anyway I'll pay what ever it cost.
I drive the V10 every day. If it's worth having, it's worth paying for. Ya' gotta make the most of your time here, 'cause it's not for long. Life is for living, not worrying.
Keep on truckin'!
I just bought a saturn for $1500. I'll use it as my daily driver and drive my truck on weekends or when I need it. The saturn will pay for itself in no time. At least that was my theory. The car sits in my driveway more than the truck.
during this summer when gas prices go up i will be driving my hot rod lincoln which gets about 13 with the 5.0 so i will be getting a little better gas mileage but i would never sell my truck due to gas prices. i would just suck it up and make some more money so i can keep slaming my foot to the floor still wish i had a PSD though always liked the sound.

Amen to that! It is worth more to me to keep the truck and buy an econo car, then to sell it and regret it later. After all, I knew that it was not going to get 4 banger gas mpg. No regrets here, or thought of sale either! I average 13 mpg anyways.
I bought my V10 to pull my trailer and bring all my toys. During the week I ride my motorcycle at 60+ miles per gallon. When I feel like 4 wheels and a steel cage I take the truck
