After having posted in a few tech threads today, I realized that we hardly ever really "talk" to each other much here in the V10 forum.
So, what's up with you all?
Me, I've been commuting daily 44 miles round trip with my V10 - and loving it. The gas is killing me, at 10.5MPGs in mixed/city driving, but it's cheaper than buying a new car
Doing good here, I feel I've got the best of both worlds:
Still lovin the 2008 F-350 but now that I have the 2012 Focus lovin that too!
(Drive the F-350 about once a week)
Thus I'm filling up the Focus about every 10 days or so with 10 gal of gas and the F-350 about once per month with 25 gal of gas instead of the F-350 every week with 25 gal of gas.
So I'm at 55 gal/month instead of 100 gal/month roughly.
You could look into getting a cheap commuter car.. A guy here at work was complaining about driving his F150 and just bought a $500 Ford Escort from a mechanic. Mechanically its great, no issues, yeah its ugly and beat on the inside and out though, and its not going to attract the women like a nice truck will but its cheap haha
Several years ago I bought a project 72 VW Beetle it was a very slow project and then was forced to sell because we had to move from out rental house into an apartment. Now we have owned out house for 2 years I have been debating buying one again and this time just leaving it a pile of junk and enjoying it as it
What's going to happen is I'm going to get the wife a new Edge or better yet, the Explorer Sport and use her Cougar. It's still no gas-saver, but it's even more fun to drive than the SD
I can still justify to own my truck for the reason of having a 5'er trailer . I am very careful not to let the truck sit long period of times unused . I use it at least twice a week even if it is only 4-5 miles per day . Every year we are hearing more and more horror stories with bent valves , broken cam sensors ,etc. Some of those seems to have a common denaminator of sitting too long due to cost of gas .
It is a shame that we have no other reasonable fuel alternatives , like natural gas conversion, etc.

We have the same commute I think. I'm averaging 10.5mpg overall, some weeks as high as 11.2 or as low as 9. My V10 is our only vehicle, so she's always working. Drinking 25 gallons if fuel a week does hurt, but that's the nature of the beast.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this this week I had a commute of 5 miles round trip. Monday,Thursday and Friday I traveled about 200 miles, when your in construction you go where the work is. I am only getting 8.5 MPG but that's okay 'cause I enjoy the rumble of the V10. It is time for some maintenance, trans flush which I do every year before camping season starts, coolant flush, couple of exhaust manifold studs and oil change.
Can't wait to get the trailer out. Weather is still cold and wet here in Oregon.
Excited to try out Mike's tunes while towing! Around town is impressive!

I'm a lurker here myself, hope to maybe one day find an E250 or E350 with the V10---not sure why I want one but its something I'm exploring. From what I've found so far V10's are mostly in the 12 or 15 passenger vans which I can't use---need it to be a cargo only van, the less windows the better.
My first stop would be calling Mike @ 5 Star and telling him to go wild for me, emphasis on the 87 octane economy tune though--guess I'm not as wild as I'd like to think!
There has been a lot of interesting and helpful stuff about the V10's here even though most are in the F-Series models it seems.

We just got back from Florida yesterday and the old workhorse is setting in the garage for the first time in 9 months. We left our homebase in SC Nebraska the first of August and the old beast has been as far north as Meat Cove NS and as far south as Cortez Florida. Now it's time for some maintenance on the truck and trailer but first I have to clean every bug know to man off the front of the trailer and truck . I have been looking at a F450 cab chassis on the Ford site and they now offer the V10 with XLT trim (I would rather have the Lariat )for the 2012 model year now if they offer the V10 with the new 6 speed in 2013 I may just continue the BSEG

I commute 60 miles a day. I have a 1973 VW Beetle, I use about 18 gallons of gas a week. For what I make I can't afford to drive my truck. But I do like my bug.
I do miss driving my truck, so far this year I have put on less then 1000 miles on it. I still try to drive it about every weekend. Even if it is to the store and back.
Oh, a F450 V10 cab and chassis would make a sweet work truck as well, but i would need the Lariat package, and I think I would need a 10' enclosed utility body and I'm going to need an extra fuel tank. Let me see if I can build one, be right back.
