Yep, extended mag with cover. That's going to be my CHL weapon. Looking for a Ruger 9mm for the wife.

Hummm.... XDM, eh?

I've actually been thinking pretty hard about that particular model {the XDm}. I know coming from Springfield Armory, it's got to be totally reliable so will undoubtedly make for a good CC weapon. It field strips like a 1911, right? I know it's got a grip safety like the 1911s and I think a trigger safety like a Glock - which is hardly a safety (in my mind). No de-cocker, right? What's a good price on one - anybody?...I'll Google around. (I assume it comes with two magazines...extras would be $20-$30 range, right?). Might be time to break open the cookie jar...

OK, so I edited your post a little. Why not just get a 1911? 100 year old design and still one of the top selling models should say something.

Kind of like saying I'm looking for a good Ford. Where should I buy it? What do you want? New? Used? Basic stripped down model? Fancy version? Overpriced?

Search online first for what you're looking for so you get to know the price ranges. Buds gun shop is an old standard to judge others by. Grabagun seems to be coming on strong with some good pricing, but Bud's is out of state so no taxes.

Then visit your local dealers and gun shows. Also check the online lists to see if a private seller wants to make a deal (they usually ask for close to what the new price is except they don't charge tax). Gun show pricing is all over the place, as is the dealers, but remember it's good to support the local economy when you can.

2)I'm looking for a used AK if anyone has one they're looking to get rid of. in the Austin area. Any model or condition as long as price reflects it and under $1000

It has two safety mechanisms. One on the trigger, and one at the rear of the frame. You have to be holding the weapon and depress both safetys for it to fire.

The weapon came with everything in the photo in a nice hard case.

note: you'll see some swirling on the slide. That's not the weapon itself. I edited the photo.

Considering you can trade one for a bowl of rice, in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Going price for a good E.European made/ Russian made one is about $575 at gun shows here.
Shy away from Chinese and Middle eastern make AKs...........Accuracy is very suspect, though functionality is great.

I tend to buy online from places such as Guns America and select retailers like Budd's, Impact, etc... shop around for your best price just keep in mind the shipping and FFL transfer fees. I will buy from shows also if the price is right (my last purchase was $10 higher than buying online for bottom line total but I didn't feel like waiting and was in the mood to pick up that day).

The XDm does not break down like a 1911 at all, unless you are only talking about the upper slide assembly separating from the grip frame. I love my XD and the XDm would be the same but I really dislike the external safety on these. The type of action of these pistol is meant to locked and loaded and carried hot. Lots of people have died because in a pucker moment they drew and attempted to fire a weapon with the external safety engaged or fumbled that same safety.

Best price on that AK would likely be a private transaction. Look for private sales from local gun forums. You can get cheaper AK's but not all AK's are created equal. Some are junk and some are tack drivers.

Kahr CW9?

I am thinking about a Kahr CW9? I have my CCL and think it is a good balance between price, power and size.

Do any of you have this or the P9 and how do you like it?

I have the Kahr PM9. I love it! Absolutely one of the best smaller carry pistols out there. Accuracy and recoil were well above my expectations. I recommend getting the nights sights for a CCW and also some decal grips. The extended mag also makes the grip more comfortable. My Kahr PM9 was a replacement for small carry option and displaced my Kel-Tec PF9 (which is junk by comparison).

Thanks, all I have heard about Kahr is good things. I like the fit in my hand, although I have not had the opportunity to fire one. The gun dealer in the area with the best price would have to order it for me. So, I may just place my order.
