It's a great adventure while you're there, but lookin' back not so much.
I recall I40 stopping at each big town so you'd have to exit, drive through the main drag with all the motels, gas, souvenir shops, then hop back on at the city limits.

I-40 was not yet completed out west. It was over 2100 miles in 46 hours.
I was twenty years old at the time, and really stooopid!
I just didn't know it.

Nice one. I'm not sure I could go 46 straight. Mine was about 1100 miles in 23 hours. I also did El Centro, CA to Boise Idaho towing a trailer in 23 hours once....that was a lot more work with the trailer behind me. I keep telling myself I won't do it again, but it still happens from time to time...
