Stubborn fires up around Rogue River...I understand I-5 was shut down for a bit. Glad I made it through...that would have been a hell of a detour.
On the way home I was a little ways behind a semi that a couple of Bucks jumped out in front of it. The first one made it, but the second one got clipped in the hind quarters and was sent sprawling into the median. It made me wonder; would it be legal to put a bullet in the animal in such a case? I'd doubt so, since I'm sure there's regulation against discharging a weapon on the interstate. Pretty sickening to watch the thing flopping around trying to get up.
Better that it was the semi than your pickup truck.
It's a nasty thing to have to see. Shooting wouldn't be a good idea in most states, and sadly there isn't much that can be done until police arrive. You could beat it to death with something, but I've read that in some states they would charge you with a crime. Not to mention that a wounded deer can still be dangerous. Most of what I have read discourages doing anything other than calling authorities.

Man, there is something so wrong with having to do that.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you.
But it's a sad statement about where we are as a people now.
I am in awe at the skill displayed in this sculpture. I guess the selection of a Chinese artist was controversial, but the result is proof that he was the man for the job.
This picture really doesn't do it justice, but it is the only open source I could find since the work was only revealed yesterday.
