I just purchased a set of reproduction mirrors for my 64 from LMC and they fit perfectly. It took me about 15 minutes to have the new mirrors and caps installed on both sides.
When Roger Carter original refurbished my 66 F250 he installed 77 pickup mirrors on I am not a purist (power steering, power disc brakes, tilt wheel, power windows, locker rear end and oh yeah a 460 with a C6) and function is important. They are off right now because I'm getting ready for a repaint but I can give the location hole positions if anyone is interested.
They make similar mirrors to these for Jeep Wranglers that I just put on for when I have the doors off. The one for the passenger side is bent differently than the driver's side, but can't see why you couldn't use 2 drivers mirrors. They look universal.
For the 66 F100 year model at LMC or Dennis, both sides are the same no telling if LH or RH.
I couldn't get the passenger mirror adjusted to my eyes, any one can shed some info?????
I am making mine since I can not find any aftermarket I like. From this forum, I have not seen any like your (Tall and narrow) and since most of these were not by Ford in the 60's you may have to take the dimensions and get what you can find at places like NAPA. They have a 4 x 6" and a 5" x 7" as well as the taller ones but most of those do not fit on the single post. Keep the posts, I am making the post and have yet to get the right angle on it so far.

Reason: correct dimensions
Boy I could use some side mirrors for my "65 F100 too! Not exactly sure what is considered stock.
The chrome mirrors with the 5" round mirror head are reproduced. R/L same and these fit into the slots in the doors once the rubber plugs are removed.
The other types that fit into the door slots pictured in post 22 have been obsolete for decades. When I typed this post 9/12/2011, there were a few available NOS, dunno about now.
Hate too try and revive an old thread but...are these home made or a telescopeing parts mix with shorted mirror head mount, or what?
saw some that are close in here but.. well here's what's been on the truck for about 25 years, we bought repop stock style but less than a year out side and not even being driven...the passenger side has the begining stage of thin chrome...cheap repop's...I'll take the old ones, the replacement head at orielys is $ 9.70 a peice for stainless..

aj64f100390-292, your mirror bracket is an interesting set up and would be neat to replicate in stainless steel...
Thanks for the photos showing both sides...
