Relatively New Member. Lifetime Ford Guy. These are very similar to the Jeep CJ Series Mirrors. I have a 77 CJ and a 64 Ford Custom Cab and I would like to find some low profile mirrors similar to those on the early model Jeep Wrangler Doors. They are large enough to be functional, but without overwhelming the body lines and look. Somebody somewhere is missing out by not producing a functional inconspicuous replacement. If somebody knows where I can find some similar I'd like to know.
Can anyone give me dimensions of the mirror mount that sticks out of the door? I am going to make my own brackets out of stainless steel to be able to mount a bigger rectangle mirror.

Why would you want to remake something that is already been done. Stainless Steel is a good rustless material but compared to the original and aftermarket offerings you or I will not be around to see it's end. It will look good and with a little care for a long time.
These are a little different than the original Ford offerings. They are period aftermarket brackets and with the carriage bolts (not shown) and the small brackets they can hold just about any type of mirror or be adapted. They have an extra bend in each that the originals don't and of course they are not chrome plated. Just another option that I've come across and thought I'd share a picture.
Not sure if I ever posted this picture. Last summer after having back surgery I really couldn't do much work for a while but polished up my mirrors and replaced all of the original hardware with stainless. I still want to find some stainless convex mirrors to clamp on the bar. These are replacing my painted Western mirrors that came with the Camper Special.

Where did you get the bracket?
I can't find tall enough brackets except in the 160.00 kit range.

What bracket? These mirrors, Western Jr Swing Lock, are original for these trucks and as far as I know none of the parts are reproduced. I don't think they are easy to come by used and very little if any NOS parts available.

I was looking for the Jr support bracket from top of door to just below the window and I need 21" (existing holes), all I'm finding is 17" off eBay.

I have other sets from bumpside trucks and econolines but they don't fit right but much more common. I was going to modify a set to work until I found these. They weren't cheap. I had them on my 1960 F100 4x4 about 40 years ago and wanted them for this truck.

None of the mirror options are original ( per say factory ) They like the rear bumper were dealer installed options.

That's not true. At least 2 mirrors were required equipment just like new cars today. Typically shipped loose with the trucks and were installed as part of the dealer prep.
There were standard mirrors. In 1966 the inside mirror was standard and the LH 5" x 5" Non-Telescopic mirror was standard equipment if no other outside mirrors were specified.

If you look at the photos Tripleframe posted in his vintage photos thread you can see a new truck on a carrier and it has the brackets for the Western mirrors mounted to the door. That leads me to believe they were factory installed, arms and heads probably in the cab, not mounted so it would fit on the carrier. Maybe varied depending on which plant it came from? Possibly dealers ordered stock trucks without mirrors so they could mount whatever the customer wanted but if a customer special ordered the truck and selected mirrors they were installed at the factory.
I wanted the stock mirrors so got a set on Ebay from classic something or other in OK City. Pretty good quality. I could never get a passenger side that worked from the drivers seat. I rigged up a larger 5in square but they didn't give me enough adjustment to see down the passenger side. I finally tried a 4in fish-eye stick-on and put it on the stock 5in round mirror and that really did the trick. I have a great view when backing and am happy as a clam how this worked out.
