Thanks Guys ... I will keep the pics coming. Another project is to fabricate the 4 metal bins that were in the bed of the truck. Each bin held 11 salvage covers. We are making mock-ups in cardboard. Here is a good photo that shows the configuration of the bins.
A friend of mine in Chicago went to an old book store and found a set of blueprints for a patrol truck. Although it was for a 53, it still had the same bins. He paid $5 for it. Amazing that something like that was still laying around. The company that made it went out of business in the early sixties. Here it is:
3rd door temporally hung. It took hours of grinding and adjusting to get it to fit right. Still not perfect but we are dealing with a 60 year old wood door and frame. The truck originally came with metal hinges. I priced out stainless one's and they were expensive.
