Kind of a mouth full name - anyway,
the twin stick looked painful! but Y the transmission shift change. (I guess I forgot how it looked...

Well after getting the 3 spd set up in the mail and doing some more detailed looking around under and in there it seems that with the power brake booster and master cylinder moved to under there there might no be room for it....

They took the hard route to make this thing with lots of custom "WTH is that set up for" stuff, but its fixable for the most part.

They totally removed the body and dash and had to fab/cob up the clutch and brake pedal mount. Looks like that led to the twin stick set up, so now I get to reverse fab that mess.

Well, I don't think yer gunna raid ol red for help. How bout the '68 parts you got awhile ago? Could they go on hillbillybug to solve anything? Seemed they were mostly sheet metal... most needed would be a firewall assembly type thing offa bronk. I'm too far away - but gotta get rid of my spare, too bad we couldn't swap for a front bench.

seems like U got everything- doors, hood, w.shield, top- but what U need:
"...a firewall assembly type thing..."? may B not...

Why change the transmission shift? That looks pretty standard...

The j shift xfer case is ok, but the twin stick 1st-reverse then 2nd & 3rd is the other 2 levers.

It is not really good for any type of "speed shifting", when I grab a lever and tack it out, I want to roll right into 2nd, without changing levers.

I got an original 3 spd floor shift, just need to mod it into place. The master cylinder and power brake booster are under the floor now, and right next to the trans/xfer case.

Made the seating arrangement a little more comfortable and safer in the hillbilly-bug.

Well I finally got the ball rolling to replace the splendidly **** thin wall back half wanna be roll bar. It was more like a "light bar" and no way near strong enough to be safe.

We are replacing it with proper roll cage material and carrying it towards the rear to be like a family cage. I am trying to work it so I still have the fenderwell tool box's.

Also going to tie it all to the frame and rear bumper, after a possible rear bumper upgrade?

Pics after the job is done.

Well we got the relocated roll cage (out of the 79) modded and installed into the 71 along with a new rear bumper put on it and tied into the roll cage.

Will get the middle bars and front bars tied to the frame here soon.

Same bumper style going on the front, and making rock sliders and tying them into the frame too.

As always thanks to a fellow FTE member for the help.

A few more...that rear bumper is not going NO where, it is welded to 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 heavy gauge square tubing and put inside the frame rails.

Welded to the top part of the frame, will be grade 8 bolted thru the top frame rail thru the square tubing and then thru the bottom frame rail.

The replacement front will be just like it. I will post some pics of the tie in to the frame with it.
