This might be a little of a stretch on the subject but this might be a little interesting for those that attended Truckfest '14 at our farm.
My son posted this picture on Facebook, along with a few other farm pictures from 1954 when my wife's grandfather had a cattle dispersal auction on the farm. On the right is a '51 or '52 parked on the road. I would assume it belonged to a farmer hoping to get a good deal on a cow or two and could have been used to haul a couple home. Can't tell if it's a pickup or a bigger truck.
Here's a current picture of the farm, my son is the sixth generation to farm and milk cows.
I wonder what the story is behind this scene. Looks like a '48-50 COE. I bet there was a change of shorts in this situation.
It appears to me that the chassis is in good alignment with the front and rear axles, but the trailer is sitting on it's landing gear with it's nose almost on the tractor's rear tires, and the fuel tank and running board flat on the ground. I'll speculate that there was a collision at the right front causing failure of the suspension. Also, I don't recognize that hood and rear window as being Ford. Just my 2¢.
My son finished building a flatbed for my truck in high school Ag Construction class.
I've been like a kid in a candy store.
I stopped by Orschlen's to pick something up and my mother in law drove up just as I was about to leave. So, I got my first real job.
Then I've spent this weekend working on the sideboards and a treehouse repair. The treehouse was originally built by my wife and her sister (well their dad) and now grandkids and great grandkids are needing an upgrade. It's not fancy, just scrap boards to make a platform.
