Copperheads too! They're bad. In Wisconsin, we have cute little grass snakes.

OK, maybe I'm double-dipping this thread, but I'm just about to work my truck something serious...

A few months ago in this same thread I showed these 2 (Betty and Rosie) on their first ever run together around the block. I figured it might be the last time, but Abe and Pinto got me thinking...(yeah, that's almost always a bad idea!). They were right - who needs power steering when the front wheels are barely touching the ground anyway, and if you yank on the rear fenders hard enough the back tires won't ever rub!

So, Let's go camping!

While it's 80+ miles to my destination (heading right toward underthebridgejim), it's all in the California central valley so my total vertical climb is maybe a few hundred feet. OK, so maybe I'm not working her very hard after all...

Oh yeah, about the truck, she's got an '89 5.0 mustang engine, tranny, rear end, and brakes, and the rest is mostly '54 stock. Yeah, not exactly the best towing setup...

So What, Let's roll!

Jerry

Do you have a weight distributing hitch? I didn't think I could see one. It will help lift the rear end and put some weight on the front end for better braking. Dennis

Can you redistribute the weight in the trailer and move some to the back of it so it lifts front? It may just give you a better hitch weight and therefore better distribution on truck tires. We did that a lot on the horse trailer that was a tag along when we had a couple big horses to haul

Bob, he seems to be smiling in your last picture. Now, Pennsylvania snakes--that's a different matter--those snakes are always serious--no smiles--ever.

We have rattlesnakes and copperheads here in Arkansas also. We have the eastern Diamondback and the timber Rattler. I have killed three Timber Rattlers and one Copperhead in my shop and one Timber Rattler just out the side door of my shop into the shed where I park my truck. I hate snakes!! Here are a couple of photos of the copperhead and one of the rattlers from my shop. The Copperhead was a young one, one of the rattlers was also a baby about a foot long. The other rattler in the shop was about 36" and the one just outside the door was larger than the one pictured, over 48"

I bet you don't have a mouse problem in your garage!

There is a place about 45 north of me called Morris. Each year they have a rattlesnake hunt. You win prizes for catching the most and for catching the largest. Then they return them to the wild after the contest.

Every morning I would take my 1st cup of coffee outside and water these potted plants on the front patio. This house was on an acre on the edge of town, open plains. As I bent over to water the first one, I heard a hissing, then this guy poked his head out at me. He'd been keeping warm curled around one of the pots. 3-ft bull snake, non-venomous but I wouldn't want to get bit by one.

The bull snakes are good, they keep the rattlers away and sure cut down on the mouse population

Yup I remember. I was in the back seat of my buddies Trans Am Cuda going to a party with my girlfriend of the time when this song came on the radio. Circa 1970 I'm thinking.

It was a song by Jim Stafford. Stafford now has a regular show-house in Branson Missouri making nightly performances. He was a regular on the Smothers Brothers show. He's one heck of a guitar picker!
