Either that or the constant vibration of that rattlebox diesel

ROFL. That is too funny. So both models of trucks are huge vibrators?

That's why my wife had a hard time deciding which one to tell me to buy.

Some scientists actually did a study a few years ago that showed that harleys, washing machines and some car/truck engines idled at the optimal frequency to give women the most, um, pleasurable driving experience. Had something to do with the amplitude, megahertz, etc of the soundwaves and vibrations. The best engines for the "job" were ones with big cams or a more rough/slow idle. So the next time the wife gets on you for wanting to do mods to your truck, just tell her you're just doing it for her

That's because it is new and stock. Make some changes and it will vibrate for you.

My daily driver is a 6.8L, my two work trucks are 7.3L and a 6.0L, and my dads new baby is another 6.0L. It is hard to compare the motors and say which one is better, but i think most guys would lean towards the diesel. They both have there positives and but also their negatives.
In terms of ponies and foot/pounds, the diesels are easier to squeeze power out of from the factory with mods that pretty much anyone and their grandma could install (I dont think i've ever met anyone who doesn't have their diesel chipped). But the V10 has the potential to put out fairly high dyno numbers (maybe even comparable to that of a performance diesel) with a little tlc and financial backing, I've seen it. And please lets remember, the psd comes STOCK with a pretty solid turbo set up. I can buy a turbo set up from vortech for 6 grand too! If the diesels didn't have them, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell them.
As far as durability goes, this gets patchy. Diesels are known to run forever, but lets not forget the first Navistar 6.0s.. wow... As far as the V-10s go they have been absolutely solid motors. Sure sure every engine have their flaws, but the V10s never had to endure anything so detrimental as what the poor 03-04 psd owners had to go through. My dad got my truck (the v10) new and we have had absolutely nothing go wrong with it (although my studs prob would've gone bad but we replaced those before they did). And that's after 9 years of plowing, hauling, daily driver, offroading, and anything else you can think of (that includes being sexy).
On the other hand, both our 6.0s are 2006 model years (lol when ford finally managed to work out the kinks... millions of dollars later) and i will tell you what! those suckers haul!! one is a 550 and everyday we go out, it hauls well over its gvrw and does it quite well (even before it was chipped). I have no doubt that our 6.0s will last, but we have had more (little) problems in the 3 years of the one 6.0L than in the 9 with the V10. I also mentioned the 7.3, and that truck runs great. That truck hasnt done a whole lot of (heavy) work in its lifetime, but she runs like a champ for all the work it has done and wont stop.
As for over all ease of use, I would pick the V10 in a heartbeat. Any maintenance is a breeze and the truck makes you look good doing it. stuff just seems easier to access and work on (maybe a little cheaper too)! Plus, I still hate waiting for glow plugs.. especially in the winter. I'll never get used to that lol. Also, if you like offroading, the V10 blows the psd away. the diesel just has to much weight and anger issues to go up or through much of anything. The V10 allows for much more nimble driving, but brings out the guts when you need it.
I think its going to come down to your personal use and/or preference. I love them both and will always drive both. I still haven't driven the new 6.4, and prob never will. ( thats not because of choice, but because of $$$ ha ha). BUT i will probably become an auto thief to get that scorpion when it comes out!!!! oh buddy ha ha. Anyhow that is my two cents comment or criticize as you want

I have done 4 coils, the egr and the spark plugs,Cracked rad, belts and hoses, oil and filters.

Not much, but still nice to have it easy to work on.

Never worked on a PSD truck, but I can guarantee your V10 stuffed into a van is WAY easier to work on than mine. This is one of the reasons I sometimes wish I had a V10.

Can find gasoline anywhere, diesel not so much.
Gas is cheaper!
Fuel filters are cheaper for a gas truck
Oil changes cost $29 as opposed to $99

Right now I live on a miltary base. My commute to work is 2 miles and doesn't get over 35 MPH, which isn't good for a PSD. An aluminum-head V10 might reach operating temp in that 10 minute drive, my PSD never does. I also have to drive off post to get fuel as opposed to the 2 convenient gas stations here.

But it sure does tow nice...
