Good morning guys,

I have no idea what the weather is like outside, temperature wise..its spitting rain out there now. Randy left the garage door open all night last night, lol, we don't think anything is missing.

SO, last night we came home, decided we'd give Mattie a bath. So mattie has these booties we put on her, to keep her from chewing her feet, and scratching her ears. Mattie has some severe allergy issues, and it all comes out in her feet and ears. So her ears itch, and she'll scratch them until they bleed, and she will chew her feet until they bleed..which is why we got the booties.

So I went to take her booties off, and one of them was bloody...and her leg was all swollen. The booties have a velcro strap on them to keep them on...and she had been chewing her leg THROUGH the bootie to try and get it off. Where the velcro strap was, there is a huge dent in her leg. Her chewing her tissue through the bootie caused her leg to swell a bit.

Well I gave her a bath and washed it thoroughly...it was hardly bleeding but I was worried about the swelling and the dent in her leg. This morning, everything looks better...where the swelling is at she is starting to form a scab, and she walks on it just fine and doesn't act like it hurts her. The dent is still there.

I'm kind of just watching her, trying to decide if I should take her to the vet or not.

Lisa Try puttin some Neosporin or Basatracin on it. I did it to one of my dogs years ago and it helped to stop some of the itching.

J-L wants to call you later on today if that is ok. She is sound asleep still, wrapped up in the blanket that you sent her!

I think we have some neosporin somewhere. I can try that. I thought about it last night but I didn't want to put it on there and have her lick it and get sick.

Sure Jim, I'd like to talk to J-L. Like I said last night, I didn't get a phone call, just a message. Stupid Verizon.

Does she like everything? I hope it all wasn't too pink, and that she wasn't too old for some of that stuff. Did the bracelets fit? Its been a really long time since I was a little girl, and I struggled with how big a little girl's wrist was.

She LOVED everything!! The little dog even went out to dinner with us last night. She stayed in the truck while we ate though. The bracelets are a bit snug but they fit her wrist and they won't fall off. She wore all of them last night also. I was tearing up watching her open the box. Thank you for making her smile Lisa! She was going to call you before dinner but decided to do it when we got home "You know how long girls talk on the phone Dad"

I have Verizon also and it does that from time to time. I thought that it was my p.o.c phone.

Yeah, that's the thing about this time of year down here in Texas. We still get cold air from the north and when it mixes with the warm air from the Gulf of Mexico, well, things get exciting in a hurry. I actually enjoy this time of year and the thunderstorms. I love to watch them roll in and unleash their fury, just as long as no one gets hurt.

Hey Lisa!

I agree with Jim, Neosporin is your friend in this situation. I would try that before making a run to a vet. They are going to charge you at least a hundred bucks for the same advice, a fancy bandage and one of those cones over Maddie's head which she will promptly want taken off.

I have Verizon also and have been missing calls for the last two days. I missed several from Susan last night while she was driving home.

Must be a glitch in their system at the moment.

Ahh good!! That puppy is the best kind...no food, no water, no vet bills.

I'm glad she liked everything. If/when the bracelets get too small, you can send them back to me and I'll make them longer.

Yeah, I know Scott. I know the vet won't tell me anything I don't already know, I just get nervous that there is a circulation issue or something. Her pads on that leg are warm so her circulation is fine.

I just wish we could figure out why she has these allergies so I could stop all of her suffering. We tried to solve one problem and just ended up creating another.

Hmm...that's possible. I was clearing out my VM box a few days ago, and there was a message in there from one of my old co-workers. I never saw a missed call, and it never even told me if I had a VM. I called her back and she said she had called like 3 days earlier. WTF?

Last night Randy and I were eating dinner and my VM ringer starts going off, no missed call, no record of a call and it was J-L.

We have a vet here that uses some all natural stuff. Some dogs are allergic to the binders in commercial dog food.

Thanks they should fit for quite a while though.

It's frustratin with Verizon, especially when you see the commercials on TV with the network.

Same thing happened with my phone last night. I was sitting here on FTE and my phone did the missed call chime and then the VM tone. The phone never rang but it showed a missed call from Susan and a VM. When I scrolled through the missed calls there were several from her.

I sweet talked my way out of them.

Not always. It gets cold here but not for as long, and not as cold, as the northern and eastern Yankee states. I am thinking this will be our last chilly snap and then we are warm until November.

Hurricane season starts in June!

The 4 seasons for the Gulf Coast region are
Christmas, and New Years (around here commonly refered to as winter), Spring Break, Hurricane season, and Football season. Now what really makes that interesting is that football season is overlapped by Hurricane season, and during October it is not uncommon for the temps to swing 50+ degrees in one day. You can wake up at 5 am and it be 40*, but by noon it will be 90* with high humidity.
