Abbottsford, BC. Canada Eh!
It's about 40 min from my house
about 4 hours for me I guess, I only been to Canada when I went on a cruise a few years back and that was for about 2 hours, no real time to check Canada out.
Now I'm thinking about South Park, I wonder how Canadians really feel about South Park? And whats up with Kenny always being killed?
I really like Canada a lot. Some of my most memorable days (and some I dont really remember) were spent up there. White Rock is a beautiful little place, just a jump across the border. I am hoping to make it up there and bring a few buddies, but they are totally whipped and probably wont go...
They compromise cutting edge visibility on the front and they obviously have no turntable in the rear. They had to sacrafice things in order to get 2 attachments on one machine.
Yes they are handy, but they will never hold a candle to a dozer when it comes to grading. Not now not ever.
They will never hold a candle to an excavator when it comes to digging a trench and loading a truck with the material coming out of it. Especially if it is a narrow alley-way and the truck can only get in from behind the machine.
And like I said they compromise cutting edge visibility and they won't have high flow aux. hydraulics like a skid.
If I had to have one machine on a job it would be a TLB. But the thing is I don't have to have one machine on a job so I choose equipment more suited for what I'm doing.
Can you take a TLB and switch from forks to a bucket in under 20 seconds? Can it run a rotary mower or a mulcher head?
Trust me it's not a lack of hours in the seat of a TLB. It's just I don't like them.
We've only ever had one that I liked. It was a Deere 510D that was bought new by the water company. It was plumbed to the front with a 4-in-1 and plumbed to the rear for a hammer.
I am not limited to two attachment in a couple minutes I can drop the hoe and attach any 3 point equipment also with hydraulic tilt and also has full live hydraulics
I am a finish dozer operator and fully know its capabilities and with a box blade I can do a more of a finish job on grading.
I am also quite at home on a track hoe of any size, loader crane or bout any other piece of heavy equipment
It's nice you have too much equipment sitting around with nothing to do but on a small job by the time you get it all move the job should be about done and you can't with a clear concious charge to move a bunch of equipment in or for it just sitting there
Yes my front bucket is also quick attach and also have forks and a root rake sofor that question yes,yes and yes
You may have a lot of hours on equipment for your age but a might out of you league with an operator with 40+ years of experience

There are machines that can expand on the capabilities of a backhoe for sure, but alot of times when you go to a site with a few man crew, it costs money to bring out a dozer, or a full size.
Thats where it gets to be bad business decisions. The backhoe (specially rubber tire hoe) will always have a use out there, where a dozer, full size ex, or a skidsteer wouldnt work at all. (goes visa versa too)
!
Your quite right and when you need another piece for a short while you can rent it and let someone else have the expences
Crazy last 2 days. Wednesday, the robbery, Wednesday night went out to the bar and drank quite a few. Well my buddy decided to sneak out after paying the bill and drive himself home. We already told him he was riding with us home. Well after waiting for 10 minutes we figured he left and sure enough his truck was gone. I texted him at like 1am and he didnt respond. Well 11am I get a text from him saying he got a DUI...stubborn as they get, I swear. They got him for speeding THEN the DUI...
Last night we went to the Canal Club in Richmond for a little concert series. Great time there but everyonee wanted to go to Tiki Bobs(lots of teens and college girls). I said Im goin home, cant stay up all night tonight and then do it tomorrow too. Turns out a few of my friends had a falling out...over a girl...
So glad I didnt go and so glad Im not tied down....
Tonight is looking good. Goin to help a friend do some drywall around the giant hole left from him ripping his furnace out. Hes getting central air put in tomorrow!

I was able to collect all $5600, all thru donations. He will have a proper burial. Susan and I are going to head over to the funeral home and pay the bill when they open.
Scott, youre truly a good man surrounded by great co-workers and friends. Glad to hear you reached the goal and he will be properly taken care of.
By all means Tristan, pm away!!!! Drywall huh? yuck...I did my own for a few years, glad I know how, but not for me. A little patch work is fine but a whole house isnt fun...

Oh I'm most definitely out of my league with any full-time operator. I'm sure you could run circles around me, but all I'm saying is that I'm not a huge TLB fan.
We don't do mobilization charges and bill by the job so I wouldn't feel bad at all about having equipment on a job.
We do jobs ranging from drainage work around homes like Brent is doing to digging out and replacing 200,000 yards of bad material so they could build a Lowes on top of it.
We have the equipment to do it any of that work. It's not all shiny new, but it works and doesn't cost us an
arm and a leg to own.

Brent I need a little drywall work done, small job. Lostmybeer (Tom) installed a new electrical panel in my house and after trying to fight it for way to long the drywall lost the battle. That and a plumbing issue awhile back I need a hole fixed in the garage.
so if you get down south need some cash and have some time, let me know.

Jim....thank you.
Thats good news, I didn't get the address to send any money. please PM me so I can send a little something and if you dont need it for the funeral maybe something for the daughter. I'll send a gift card for her.
We did a 100 foot long wall with 2 layers of 5/8's inch drywall...at the top was all kinds of pipes and I beams and steel trusses. we had to stagger all joints around the obstacles so there was no seams overlapping...both sides of the wall!
