Looks good Pete. I would only worry about the duct tape coming off from the corners. Could you lace the bungie cords to the out side of the box and reinforce it with the tape? That way the edge of the box will help support the cords?
The cords go through and are taped inside and out on the outer box and there's a TON of tape on that inner box. I've tested it from maybe 20' or so already but I can't get out of my driveway this morning cause I'm blocked in by guys trimming the hedges next door.
So bad news: I'm blocked in and can't leave until they move.
Good news: I don't have to be at work til 11:00 and they've got a bucket truck so I may be able to recruit them for some testing.
I also really dislike the limp handshake. Does not matter if you are a man or a woman. Put a little pressure into it. But by the same token don't snap my little fingers like twigs either. I am not afraid to shake anybodies hand so bring it on FF.
By the by...It would be really great to know at least your first name FF.
We'll compare hand sizes at RRE. You may have met your match in the small hands dept.
That may be possible.

They just did. Now it's back to the drawing board. I had one scrambled egg.
I wish I could see inside the box to know if the cords are giving too much/not enough. I'm also thinking I'm going to do something other than sand inside the interior box. We're working in teams of 2 people in order to do these and the sand was the other guy's idea and I think it may be part of the problem.
Yeah I know but if you want to participate in the OT it's kind of not with the comaraderie (sp?) intended. I hesitate to say "rude" but a first name isn't exactly a national security type of thing you know?
End of that rant. Sorry, I don't mean to be offensive FF but we really started as a really close knit group.
On the egg drop thing. We never had any of that type of thing when I went to school.

I would think the sand wouldnt give enough, yes it would spread the weight around but theres no give in it at all.
Maybe a bigger inside box with wadded up newspaper to hold the egg.
You can always add washers or nuts to the inside of the bigger box to make weight. Dont know if it legal but if your covering it with duct tape they wont see it

Thats funny.... My bet would be the cords are not giving enough.

I would agree. the weight of the egg is not sufficient enough to cause any kind of stretch on those cords.
I would suggest building a box with a false bottom. I used carburetor springs, a piece of cardboard, and on top of that false bottom different types of packing materials in various weights, heaviest to lightest. That way when the egg entered the box, it hit soft, then fell into more firm materials and the weight of the egg as it dropped was supported by the springs at the bottom.
