I am not the happiest man in the world right now. I just got a call from the maint. supervisor at Pavestone and corporate just instituted a hiring freeze so my physical has been cancelled and I am now still without a job. He told me that he has to lay off one of the maint guys that he has now also. If the freeze is lifted soon they will call me first.

Not a good day at all.

Sorry to hear that Jim. I missed the original news so here I am reading about your new job and then this news all in one sitting. That really sucks Jim. How could they not know ahead of time to at least not be interviewing people. Probably means that would be a good company to NOT work for anyway.

Good grief.

I'm sorry Jim. What the heck? They can't make these kinds of decisions BEFORE they drag someone through an entire hiring process?

Last Dec/Jan I interview 3 times with a company in Denver... I found out they interviewed almost 30 people for this position. It got done to me & 1 other person, and we both interviewed. This was over almost a 10 week period in total... after my final interview, a week later they came back and said "We looked at our needs and actually don't need that position after all..." especially in the current economy, that's just poor management.

i think this is more a case of management not knowing what the plant is doing.

the plant manager said we need another mechanic, and preferably one with electrical experience. hire someone.

then 2 weeks later after all is said and done, the front office pencil pushing bean counters that have no knowledge of the managers hiring process decide they need to save money by firing a mechanic and enforcing a hiring freeze.
