I wonder if on framing crews the older crew members ask the green horn to get a metric 2X4 to build a metric wall.

I don't think so, but I know a guy that sold Matco tools, and made some good money selling metric crescent wrenches when the imports started getting more popular.

Not really, but it's not uncommon to yell at the new guy when he cuts something wrong and then tell him to move his azz and go find the board stretcher quick....If you say it without laughing, you can get a guy good and flustered and have him looking for a good 5 minutes....
Yeah, i can be a jerk like that...
I worked for one of those guys that screamed all day and while I'm not like that, I can pull it out if need be....

I've saw some younger carpenters working on old houses and wonder what was wrong with the old lumber it didn't fit with the new stuff

Oh good point Ray, I have no idea about the rest of the country but around 1915 around here they went from rough cut full dimension 2''x4'' to the now standard 1 1/2 x 3 1/2''. I know this from bidding a job wrong....Lessons like that dont come cheap!!!

It's not easy Jake, at all. Sometimes I can do it, if the guy doesnt know me very well. If they do than forget it... Dang I sure miss Mark right now, I bet that guy has some of the best stories around... I'd love to build a wall or two with him... I bet he could teach me a lot....
I just hope he is okay...

Still going...LOL...Not too bad though, thanks for asking. Cleaning up the house now, got a party friday night here, and since I built the house about 6 months ago a lot of our friends havent really had a chance to see it, so it would be nice if it looked good! Amazing how time flies when you have a little one....
Looks like we got about a week of sunny/foggy weather!!! Maybe we can start to dry out some!!!!! hahahahah!

If I was up there, I would!! However, it is my nephew's six birthday this weekend so chances of being that way are slim.. I'd never hear the end of it!!
I never lie to my friends!! I tell it how it is!! I could start lying if you want..
