Is everyone getting along fine with this TV digital transition??
I'm not liking it!! I can't get anything to work!!
I'm cheap and have rabbits ears and old tv's, so had to get a converter box. I was able to get most any station in the area, now I don't get squat!
How's it working for everyone else?
It aint working too bad for us. we swapped out antennas, set up the converter box and now we are getting stations that could only come in really fuzzy if at all.
I worked for a property management company for 3 years during college. You might get some crappy people living there but the tax shelter it provides you is priceless. When we were renting out the place in Alabama we had a young neighbor perform the maintenance outside including gutters.
I dont know how long the eviction process takes place in MI but in VA it took minimum of 45 days to get him out. Since he wasnt on the lease I dont see why you have to go thru the eviction process though. She has abandoned the property and you are right, he has no legal right to be on your property, let alone in the house. I would think that is trespassing...
Even though they were in a relationship I believe when the ACTUAL tenant abandons the property he doesnt have a leg to stand on. I could be just preaching to choir here since landlord tenant laws are totally different state to state but mention the word abandonment and see what they say at the courthouse...
Pat I think that Tristan is right. The boyfriend isn't on the lease she was, by her vacating the house the lease is broken. It seem to me that he is trespassing. I'd give a call to a lawyer and see. If so cal the police and have him removed.
Sorry to hear that this dilema is still going on.
Already contacted the police.. so had he.. when I called the police.. they asked the address,, then asked why Iwas calling again.. there was nothing they would do about it.. it is a civil case...That was why I was grabbing the .45...
By the way.. what day is that digital thing happening again?? I think I missed it..OH shoot.. what am I going to do.. no tv.. you mean.. I might have to hang out with you guys.. Like I would complain about that...
I don't see how this is a civil matter Pat, he is breaking and entering. He has no legal rights to the house. Hope you get it figured out without having to use the .45.
I don't think the DTV thing is happening officially until June now. Congress, I think, got it postponed since so many people are not ready and the gov't ran out of the coupons for the converters. I know some of the stations in here in Phx are still going to switch over sometime his month though.
It was today at midnight. Only one station in Richmond here switched over. The rest are going to wait til the date in June they decided on now.
Definitely get it straight in court first. You dont wanna be the landlord that ends up having to PAY them in a lawsuit! Once they say, OH HES TRESPASSING....then go on over with whatever caliber weapon you choose!

Dunno..Randy insists on spending valuable $$ on cable...so we didn't have to deal with the transition.

Pat, I'm sorry about what you're going through. Just reading your story made me want to strangle somebody.
I think Jim is right. I can't see how its not trespassing in the house right now. Also is there any way you can go after your tenant for not paying rent? You might not ever get the money, but you can at least ruin her credit and make sure she never rents again.

The Govt postponed the drop dead date for transition, but a lot of stations are going through with it today anyway. The CR station made a report on it today, and apparently it costs the stations thousands of dollars in energy costs to keep the analog up and running...so a lot of them are opting to go with the transition anyway.

Absolutely! While youre in court tomorrow see what you need to do to file a judgement against the girl. Make sure you GO BY THE BOOK though. Most states will require you to go before a judge for this and once the judgement is granted you can report that to all 3 credit agencies if you would like.
Remember to add late fees, court costs, lawyers fees, and the like into your judgement!
By the way...if you didnt already notice, I did a LOT more than maintenance at my last company! I loved being a complete azz to the ones who deserved and loved partying it up on the weekends with most of the tenants...
