I will probably double up a few of them. Can I stick the neutral and the ground from the same set of wires in the same spot or should I seperate them?
I can already tell this 8/3 is gonna be REAL fun to work with but at least its not SE cable. I fought with my SE cable in the meter box itself forever it seemed when I was doing the barn. Then I found a trick...curl it and make a lil circle! Of course Im sure you would already know a few secrets, Jim!
Tristan, I don't envy you. Breaker boxes scare me.
I'm with you there. One of the other things I occasionally miss about back East - my bro did all that crap for me. He'd call me for extra hands/heavy work, and I'd have him do electrical. I don't enjoy getting zapped!

You can land both the ground and neutral under the same lug. After its tight give the wires a wiggle and then retighten them. I'm suprised that the heater called for a seperate nuetral and ground. The last few that I ahve wired only called for 2 hots and a ground.
We call those loops "bunny ears"!!!

I had a boss that used to get mad at me for testing for voltage with my fingers.
I wont be getting zapped....at least not tonight! I just did all this so I could have a head start when the new water heater gets here. Ive got the old one draining right now and it should be done shortly. Take a look at the water heater my parents got... Bosch AE-115 - $478.95 - Bosch - Powerstar AE-115 Electric Tankless Water Heater - AE-115
I got it for them for 468, not 478. I always google a site and see if they have any online coupon codes and they did for 10 bucks!
It only does one appliance at a time...strategic planning on my part to slow momma down a little bit, that and im not committing 120amps of the 200 the panel has to one appliance!

How did the job interview go?
I dont know what it calls for yet! I just know it needed those double 40s. I just have 8/3 so I wont have to go back into town in case. Im more of a visual learner. When it gets here Ill figure it out! Ill be a lil mad that I spent a couple more bucks for 8/3 instead of 8/2 but its worth not fighting traffic in the city!
Bunny ears...I defintely can see why! Stupid cables....

LOL... I've noticed dryers have a neutral now too. Probably because of all the electronics in them.
I'm about to run a 234 line up to my spare room/office. I have an RF amplifier that needs 10-15A at 234V.

They changed the code a few years ago due to the motor being run off the ground instead of an insulated nuetral. Now with all the electronics you have to seperate them anyway.
