Cold here last night. Thermometer on the back porch said -25 when I went to bed. Had the heat at 75 and it struggled to keep the house at 63. Slept with the animals for fear they'd get too cold. The wind stopped this morning so it was much warmer. Yesterday, for our county, they issued a wind chill warning and they were telling people not to go outside unless absolutely necessary.
I haven't messed with the truck for fear my fuel is probably gelled.

Minus 38 or so here right now, and Im not sure what it is with the windchill, but its not as bad today as it was yesterday.

Better than these folks complaining about 30 degrees.
Here's the thermometer on the back porch:
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Look:
It was cold enough last night that I got a little freaked out...that we'd have frozen pipes, or that the animals would get too cold.
I lived in Grand Junction for a short stint. Its a town on the other side of the rockies, in Colorado. Usually much warmer there than in Denver, as the mountains keep the cold temperatures at bay, much like what you described where you live.
So according to the locals, this minus degree crap is unusual. I can only hope it goes back to being in the 20's.

Frozen pipes arent the problem usually...its when they thaw back out! I was a maintenance tech for 3 years while in college, I saw stuff you wouldnt believe and frozen pipes(yes even in VA) happened more than I wanted. The original builders plumbed on the outside walls a lot and didnt insulate at all. Tenants didnt call when it wasnt working, the called when they noticed a swimming pool under the house!
The mountain deal is a curse and a good thing. It breaks up all the thunderstorms we have here but also prevents the snow! Last Mothers day I spent 2 hours in a bathroom in the fetal position and a tornado hit not 2 miles from us. Ill never forget that one...
