oh, and plywood sucks now, yes. My lumber yard only stocks 5 ply in 1/2'' though, and I do mean 1/2'', not that7/16 wannabe stuff. It matters.
Lisa- Meat you cant eat huh?...not going there!
On the East coast true 1/2 is nearly nonexistent. Doug Fir is very hard to find and extremely expensive. The crap they build with back here would not even be allowed for temporary bracing in Los Angeles. In fact I think if I took a typical set of prints from say Buffalo, NY into the building dept. in L.A. and asked for a permit there is a real good chance I would be arrested on the spot.

I don't really care for most of the materials I've seen used to build houses now a days. Have you seen the finger jointed studs some folks use for framing? I'm surprised most of this stuff passes inspection.
I went overboard when I built my house. At least I don't have to worry about termites.
Denver Shmenver..... I'm watching House. Well, I WAS watching House, L&O SVU is on now...
This is a post? Where? Ha, ah....

First thing in the morning, find some wood to knock on. I never broke a bone until I was 48, then I did it up right, and have been doing so ever since.

Mark, with the photos I see you post I gotta wonder if maybe you are not under investigation for something. Unless you're real discreet with that camera.
No outhouse... I'm actually sitting in bed watchin the news drinking coffee right now. Forgot to mention that it also has wireless LAN, so I'm connected to that instead of the cellular network. I do admit to using it on the throne though... LMAO!!!

We can thank the same folks for the junk building material that we have to thank for ULSD, cars that whisper "I'm gay" unleaded fuel, no muscle cars, you get the picture. Now it's only going to get worse in a big hurry.
yeah but how do they do with a 20,000 lb trailer behind them??? some of them move pretty good, but are worthless in any kind of weather. My brother has an 89 Iroc Camaro with the 5.7 L and the optional 3.27 gears... factory " standard" was 2.73's... It moves good, but put that sucker on ice and you are going nowhere....
Comparing an AWD Subaru to a Camaro is like comparing Heidi Fleiss to a bordertown pimp almost....
Subarus aren't made for towing 20,000lbs.... sheesh.... tell you what... take your PSD on a rally course against a WRX - I can hear it now when you're left for dead...
"8000lb trucks weren't made for tight turns & fast maneuvering...."
EXACTLY!!! Heck, let me get the clutch back in my 94 Legacy wagon with 200,000+ miles and I'll run ya
classic Camaros ('67-'69) are sweet - IROCs are for guidos and Joe Dirt
So any big weekend plans for anyone? I'm closing down my pool and doing some yard work this weekend, might burn some burgers and have a couple beers, but that's about it. Next weekend is my Guard weekend, so I get a nice 12 day work week starting tomorrow. But then we'll be into Thanksgiving (jeez, already?!?!!) and time to put up my Christmas lights. SIGH..... Time's flyin'....

Lighten up man. This is the WRONG place to trumpet the greatness of a ricer....

Joe - this is the O/T right? I LOVE my PSD... but it's simple math - building a 400hp WRX is 1) cheaper & 2) you've got over a 4,000lb weight advantage - we were talking about racing, heads up - there are maybe a handful of PSDs (or 5.9s or Duramaxes) that could come even close to one in a race - hundreds of WRXs out there like that
I sold my Outback when I got my PSD b/c I thought I wouldn't need it. A few months later I bought the 94 Scooby wagon because with the AWD they are PHENOMENAL in the snow - yeah, i hear it already "what about in 24" of ..."
the right tool for the right job is all I'm saying - bashing a car with a proven record of reliability & performance b/c it's a Japanese product.... silly IMO
I want a Cobra replica. Practical??? heck no! do i care?? HECK NO!!! I also want a 170mph 150hp 1000cc CBR.
I like toys and I can respect that each has it's intended purpose. My PSD will be with me long after the WRX, CBR, or whatever other toys I have are gone. But If I wanted to RACE.... I'll bring that CBR if I can. They had stock WRXs doing 12's in 2001. Stock. 12's. That's impressive. but so is pulling that 20,000lb trailer. cheers my friend!!

I don't know some of the terms you may know, I have seen the finger jointed studs but have never used one. The end of quality lumber began years ago and keeps getting worse primarily because of the EPA. The Spotted Owl is far more important than quality homes, we all know that. Southern Pine or Yellow Pine has pretty much replaced Doug Fir. It is extremely hard, knot ridden and prone to twisting. It is just plain junk. When I started a 2x4 was 1 5/8th's x 3 5/8th's, now they're barely 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 and covered with bark. I am tired of thinking about it. It's like everything else in the country, gone downhill.
