Here's a little OT for the OT......a little family Football history for me, I'm sure that plenty of you are football fans, so I thought you'd find this interesting.
My Dad was one of the stars of the team back in his day playing High School football, he was Fullback, we only had one high school here at that time, so they did lots of traveling.
My brother was a local LEGEND playing high school football here, he was chosen as ALL-PRO defensive lineman, and their team was 2nd place for state championship.
I played a bit of Linebacker in my day, but never did much in high school, I was into skateboarding, beer, and girls lol.
My Dad never went on to play college ball, he joined the Navy instead. My brother got a scholarship at a community college, and later walked on and STARTED at University of Arizona. Interesting fact.....one of his assistant coaches played pro football with Dick Butkis.....he once told me of a story about the bottom of a pileup after a fumble.......Dick Butkis actually bit a guys finger OFF when it made its way into his facemask. He's got my vote for the MEANEST player ever
Football aside, I did this a few years ago when I was in college. Got jumped outside a bar by 4 people. I held my own til they literally jumped on me. One guy poked me in the left eye and he went for my right I bit it off. They arrested him at the hospital when he came in to see if he could get it "reattached". It was an experience!

I played a little as a Linebacker too. It's still my favorite position to watch. I'm not the least bit surprised Butkis did that. In those days, it was a NASTY sport!! These p****es that play today can't hold a candle to the likes of Butkis, Csonka, etc...
But that reminds me of the Air Conditioner that was mounted in the portable bathroom at my work site in Iraq. When you're standing at the urinals, this is the sign you see :

I always loved Linebacker because its the most versatile position on defense. You have to defend the rush, the pass, and also crush some major *** on the QB on occasion I dabbled in running back a little, but I always wanted to tackle. I once returned a fumble for like 75 yards for a TD, and I still remember out last game of the season one year.......I got TWO solo safety tackles, one was the QB, other was the RB....gets my adrenaline flowing thinking back to those days lol
Oddly enough, we really used to think & ride this way.....
I've lost count of how many times I've run from the police...or at least thought I was running. When I've been riding fast and met a cop, look down and I'm no doubt over -- like way over, I would put my head down and just take off. Never looked back to see if I was being chased or not. It happened so often one summer that it almost became a reaction when I saw a cop and didn't even contemplate it, I just did it. Never got a ticket for any time I've taken off either. That was several years ago though. I don't do that kind of thing anymore.

Kodiaks are fun quads! I got one a few years ago, a friend bought it from me last year, and it's still a fun bike. I went bigger, but I'm not sure I like going bigger. That Kodiak is just about the perfect size for the woods riding stuff we do here.

ever pull up at a light and be right next to a cop? take off hard but get right up to the limit and stay there? then when they go to pass you, honk and wag that "no no NO" finger at them? yeah, that'll start some interesting conversations...
That's awesome! Gonna have to remember those. Joe, if you try them, let me know how it turns out.
Damn Lisa, 10 mice! :eek
It's really freaking windy here in MO today as well. Was yesterday too. Not as cold as Brendan, but it's starting to cool down.

Dan, I like Snap-On tools a lot, but what you described exactly why I get Craftsman tools. With the Snap-on, I now have a bent wrench that they won't warranty because I used a cheater bar on it. At least our guy here won't warranty them. With the Craftsman though, I get a new wrench.
I played football from 3rd grade all the way up through high school. Was a running back until 7th grade, then switched to offensive center. Played that until I graduated high school. I was also our teams long snapper. Yes, my little a$$ was an offensive lineman. I may have been small, but I was quick and have strong legs. Those two things allowed me to get to the d-line before they moved and get under them to keep them out of my backfield.
I miss playing football. Would have loved to play in college, but at my size, I couldn't have been a lineman at the college level, which would have meant learning a whole new position. I doubt the coaches would have had the patience for that.
I've broken more than one Craftsman ratchet. Usually because I had a cheater bar on them. All of them warrantied without question. I've also broken a few sockets, which were also replaced under warranty. Most of those were because I was using them on an impact gun. The guys at Sears don't have any idea that spider cracks in a socket are caused from an impact gun and really shouldn't be warrantied though. Cool thing about breaking the sockets is the new ones are those nice ones with the size laser etched in it, which is much easier to read.
My ex bought me a 300 peice tool set right before she started messing around with my best friend, Those laser etched stuff is really nice.

Thats the same problem I had, I would have most likely just done special teams stuff.

D@MN you... I got a little busy straightening out some testing messes from last night. I was supposed to pull nearly an all nighter, but got a reprieve from one of the other engineers somehow....
Anyway, back to the post fest!! Mark is a fierce competitor for sure.........
Competitor, now I am in a competition? I went out to check on my leveling jack for my bus and come back 6 or 7 pages behind. I guess I'd better hang around if I am in a competition. These damn jacks are heavy. About 75 pounds and have to be cut open, rebuilt and then welded back together. Any of y'all ever heard of hydraulics like this before?
I'm using Chrome for FTE now, it does some things different then Internet Explorer, it's muuuuuch faster though!
I've been using Chrome for at least a month now. Only certain things that it won't do, but for the most part I much prefer it to IE. The minor inconvenience of having to use IE for only a couple things is well worth the trade off of increase in speed.

Look at the bright side....you got a killer set of tools out of the deal!
Anyone think it will make 100 pages before they shut it down?
At 30 posts per page, I'm on 113 right now. What's the point in shutting it down, if the large threads don't actually eat up any bandwidth? We'll start another one, with the same 10-15 people chatting it up all the time.
Lisa, you're probably gone, but regarding the quote in your sig... I snapped this the other day. Not being political -- I'm just sayin'....
This is so soooooooooo true, these are the folks that have changed things in a way that is not good.

What a fact this is!! In the NFL in the beginning until about the mid fifties you were not down, until you could not get up anymore. It has been so sissified that it is almost feminine anymore. These clowns and circus acts would not have had a prayer against the likes of Bruno Nagurski, Ray Nitzge and many more that I can not even recall right now. Just the way they step out of bounds to avoid getting hit makes me want to puke. There are almost no pure tacklers left, it is bump em out of bounds kind of stuff now.
