I didnt come out injury free though. Dislocated knee and a poked eye! Least I kept my fingers though!
I played football til 10th grade then found my true calling....track...yes I was 6'5 and 325lbs...but track was my sport...long story short...we no longer have the hammer throw or the javelin because of a bad, bloody accident at a track meet. Shotput and discus only. Sad thing was we ran more than the long distance runners.
Now we have lacrosse, fieldhockey, and handball I believe. Used to be football, basketball, soccer, and track when I was there!

However, you'd be surprised what you can learn when you CAN'T go for a week or longer. When I went to Egypt, there were a few of us that had problems in that area. Some got the trots (and I mean BIG TIME), some were like me and got jammed up. Eight days was my longest stretch. One of the guys was in BAD shape. He was like 12 or 13 days in before he got relief, and was hurting badly after day 10 or so. Everyone in the unit (and some folks from other units LMAO!!!) would ask how he was. His "status" was on our daily briefing for a while...
