Mark did you ever make it to Lake Powell in all of your travels? It's the lake of ALL LAKES
You bet, there is almost nowhere in the Nevada, Arizona, California, New Mexico and even Utah area's I've not been. But so many I wish I had spent more time at. I spent time on a houseboat on Powell though. I really would like to see the desert one more time, but it seems like an impossibility to me now. I made my bed and I am going to have to lay in it. I decided in 1977 that California was never going to be the same after what Carter did to it and got out. And that is all I have to say about that.
Cris - you want cold? Come back to CO!! Friggin' Mother Nature decided to have fun with me on my run this morning and have nice gusty winds that changed direction on me.... tailwind on the downhills, and headwinds on the ups... of course Logan just cruised through it all... sometimes I hate that boy.... LOL - yeah, this was at 4AM too, so maybe 28*-ish out?
Oh...and it's I-40 that is the closest interstate, not I-10, that's a bit south, comes thru Phoenix which is about 2 hrs south of me. I-17 changes into US hwy 89 once you hit Flagstaff, then that goes north to Page, AZ....which is Lake Powell
I'll refresh your memory of Lake Powell. It was damned up in 1963, so by late 60's and early 70's Powell was thriving. It finally filled to capacity the first time in 83'....over 500 ft deep in some spots, and 185 miles long, I could be a tour guide I've been there so much
Travis - we may just take you up on that this summer!!
When I'm sick and just start to feel better, I'll go out for a short run (1mile or so right now) or maybe a 5mile bike ride - get's the heart pumping a little, boosts your endorphins & immune system - then come home, warm shower/bath & nap - you basically get your system juiced up and then rest so that it can really work on the germs - it works for me, but i'm a lacrosse player, so basically a bit of a masochist!!

whoops.....I mistook your other post thinking you were talking about Powell, I'm sure you like seeing it again though....I can NEVER get tired of that view. I will definitely have a houseboat on that lake when I retire....IF the fuggin Sierra Club doesn't get their way, but that's bordering Club talk lol

Sorry, my mistake, but remember my memory is trying to go back 40 years, most folks here ain't even that old. I do remember it's 40 now though but I think 10 was mentioned in that link that Steve posted. I have driven 10 all the way from Jacksonville to Santa Monica more than once. Do you know Texas is 2 12 packs wide? That figures out to 35 miles per beer. It may not remain 10 all the way, I gotta start checking before I use my old memory banks anymore around you kids. LOL...
Sorry to hear that Bro. As soon as I start to feel crappy I take this stuff called Cold Eze. You take it within the first 24 hours of a cold. It works very well. It shortens the severity and the duration of colds.

Oh, so I was right about 10 being the closest to Kathrines Landing and Bullhead City?

I've driven to....and thru Texas from Arizona on both the I-40, and the I-10 route. I would say the I-40 route is a little more scenic, first place you hit in Texas is Amarillo. Eastern NM, and West Texas don't have much for scenery though. I have driven I-10 down to El Paso from Flagstaff before, NOT a fun drive to do in a day! I can post more pictures of Lake Powell.....but I don't want to give Joe a PANIC ATTACK on his post count
