rule of thumb a small mig will weld 3/16,I have welded 1/4 no problem
you can go a little heavier if you preheat
basically .030 .035 and .040 are good for 5/16 steel
As far a politics who ever wins I would hope for a lot of change
I don't like to talk politics so that is all I will say
I dont know why I had it in my head, but I thought that a mig (unless ya got a really hefty one) couldnt do much more then sheet metal!
Time to bring mine back out to my farm and play a little! (I dont have a shop or garage built yet, so I have to keep it in the garden shed, and thought why bother, cant weld thin sheetmetal out here anyways!!)
For some reason the political threads I've been subscribed to in the Club have died off in the past few days. I have not heard a peep out of any of the nut cases in there. I suppose I may be considered the head nut by many, but I earned my right to be a nut.
alot of you were wondering why the last OT was "closed AFTER it was closed" it was for talking politics. I don't think that discussing that we went and voted counts for that.....but if anything beyond that comes up, it always gets heated, and we could lose our little campfire called the OT. Do I need to post more pictures of Bolt-Ons?

I agree 100% and it reminds me I gotta scan a photo if I can find it.
I just went back and deleted my own post just in case. The whole reason we get left alone here is that we tend to govern ourselves so thats keep it that way.
