Not a problem. I cant really help with your other qusetion. I havent even picked up a stinger in years and have never fooled with welding any cast.

Pushing always makes a better looking weld for me.

Yep I'd say your just moving from piece to piece to fast. With the whip motion it basically keeps your rod right in the seam so your garaunteed to get both pieces once you get your puddle but I'm not trying to talk you into swtiching what your comfortable with. That's the key to making good looking, strong welds, is being comfortable with what your doing.

quick freeze is where filler material goes from molten to to solid quickly which keeps it from drawing and cracking a must for welding cast

I always thought that it was matter of preference.

With the moon or smile motion it is easier to see where your puddle is on each end.

Speaking of that what shade lens do yall use and have you ever had any problem seeing with it? Have they let ya'll try TIG yet?
We only have auto darkening Hobart hoods with adjustable darkening level from level 9-13, the tint on the lenses is green. I haven't tried TIG welding I prefer MIG myself because of it's ease of use.

Sorry to disturb the weld talk, but I had to share.

Was eating dinner and I heard the trap go off again.

Here is what I found:

Another TWO? What are the chances of that happening?

Sorry about the gruesome dead critter pics, I just thought that was pretty amazing.

Ive never tried tig yet either. I like stick, and mig.

I was taught the half moon method too, but I have seen a million welders out in the oil patch, and not one did that half moon method, and most of them pulled instead of pushed, thats why i had to ask!

Jacob, when i was in high school we had heavy crappy flip down helmets! no tig welder, one mig and no one was allowed to use it haha.

Damn little girl. Chances of it happening??? How about I've never heard of it happening. You may have 20 or more living in there, or just coming and going as they please. There must be turds everywhere if they are living in there. I gotta suspect they are coming in and out. I would get them pajama bottoms I suggested for you if you have that many living there and you're as tasty as you appear to be.

Another great kill Lisa. I wonder how many more you are going to get? I hope you are just about through all your little visitors.

while sealed rod containers are better than nothing they still don't keep humidity away from the rods
a good cheep rod storage is an old refrigerator with a light bulb burning in it

I have a different theory. See how small they are? Remember I had mentioned the one I got a few days ago was a female?

I think these little ones are her litter, and would explain why they are going after the trap in groups.

There really isn't mouse scat everywhere, believe me I am a clean freak. There is under the sink, that is where I've been nabbing these little jerks.

I worked at the Portsmouth navel shipyard,in Kittery Maine (dont ask)

I worked in the blacksmith shop for a couple years, but I had to spend a few weeks on a sub for training.

I watched 4 welders working on a 10' x 10' patch of 7 inch thick steel...

talk about some good welders...

I prefer shaping metal...we had 100, 200, 400 and 1800 ton presses.

we also had a 3 ton steam hammer...and many smaller pneumatic hammers.

that was a fun job...but work was slow and a lot of layoffs back in the mid 80's

btw Hello everyone!

I doubt if she is if she's grabbing 2 at a time like that and twice in the same day and us old timers have never even heard of that happening before. You should apply for some kind of award Lisa, but I would not want that story in your local paper if your house has 17 days to go til closing.

Nice snag, Lisa!! Reminds me of the time I caught two fish on a double-treble-hooked lure...
