Jacob, when i was in high school we had heavy crappy flip down helmets! no tig welder, one mig and no one was allowed to use it haha.
That sounds exactly like my high school. I learned on a stick before we were allowed to touch anything else. Actually weren't even allowed to use the MIG until second year of Ag class.

Seeing those pics makes me realize how much power those little traps have. Enough to completely smash two mice completely flat, twice in one day. Sounds like you may have a few more based on your research.

How in the heck does one weld 7" thick steel? Bevel the edges and build it up?

Lisa, from my little old mouse problem, I have found that they dont always have lots of babies. Sometimes we would go for weeks without getting one, then we would get one here, one there, then nothing. Usually we would catch one or two small ones and that was it for the babies.
I still cant believe ya caught two in a trap, twice like that.
Its been unusually warm here. Nearly 80 degrees yesterday, 70 somethin today. 65 degrees on my way home tonight.
Very warm here as well. 70's for the past few days and looks to stay that way until about Thursday. I have been enjoying this weather for sure. Makes working on Jeff's truck in the driveway a lot nicer than if it was 50 something degrees.
the miller 251 is a good welder,of coarse i am partial to miller welders
I have two millers and a hobart 110 mig
one miller is a 225 portable, the other is a miller LE mig tig and stick
Inever use the big mig, gotta mortgage the farm to buy a roll of wire, and the litle hobart is fine for the mig work I need to do

yeah...60 degree bevel made it about 8 inches wide at the top...
they were using 7/32" rod I think...and it needed a surface temp of 300 degrees before they could strike an arc...
the coolest welding I saw was an 8 head mig welder...it was automated to resurface the bearing area on a 24 inch diameter 50 foot long propeller shaft.
I never got to see them balance the shaft with the 14' diameter prop on it.
we were working an 8 inch diameter alloy rod about 3 foot long...couple taps with the 3 ton steam hammer and it got a little curve to it...
we laid it on its side and positioned it to straghten it...down comes the hammer...next thing I know I got 150 lbs of 2000 degree metal coming at me...
turns out the tempature block in the oven was in the shadow of the bar stock and it got overheated...so when we hit the side it broke in half!

I would love to upgrade mine to a miller, and i will one of these days. I got my welder (think its a chicago cheapy brand) from an auction for realy cheap though, so it wasnt a bad buy.
I bought my plasma cutter for a really good deal, 400 bucks, when I lived in the lower mainland of BC. Its a nice smaller miller plasma.

yeah I think I have at least one more. I've been messing with traps and I think I've had one nibbling but hasn't set it off yet.

I know crazy huh? I hope this is almost over. This is getting annoying. I think I might get something to keep them away so my new buyers dont have to deal with them.

I think I remember you saying you knew where they can get in, if you do, plug that damn hole up!!
Yep, but its more complicated than that. They are getting in under the weatherstripping on the back door. I'd have to replace the door, or mess with the landing to keep them from getting in.
Ahh yeah, ive read about that problem. We installed (I say we but I mean Sandi, she is the reno/house fixer upper queen) some sort of of thing under both doors to stop wind and stuff.
