Watched my tag a deer one time and drop her in her tracks at 500 yards, but he was a natural shooter and had a true instinct for windage.
The very definition of a sabot describes it as raising the muzzle velocity of a projectile. Sabots, from what I understand, simulate rifling by keeping the round centered in the barrel, thus effecting distance/accuracy. Also sabots are a thinner bullet, and generally thinner round = better velocity, than a standard .50 cal round. Take what I have to say with a grain of salt. Never even fired a sabot...this is all just what I have been reading.
The cornfield hunting will be a whole new ballgame for me...but learning something new is always fun.
My impression of the sabots- which is pretty much all I shoot in my dedicated slug 12 gauge: The plastic sleeve serves 2 purposes. The first is it allows a lighter projectile to be fired at higher velocity ( laws of physics are diffcult to beat). How much lighter depends on manufacturer and gauge. The second purpose is that it is easier to clean than 100% lead foster type slugs. A fully rifled barrel shooting fosters leads up fairly rapidly. To truly clean it takes a bunch of time and a good lead solvent. The plastic sabot serves the same purpose as the copper jacket on a rifle projectile ( albeit the jacket also somewhat controls rate of expansion ).
I have killed a lot of deer with fosters... and about as many with sabots. All I can really say is shot placement rules. I have dropped bucks at 75 yards in their tracks and also had them run a couple hundred yards.... with both fosters and sabots. It really came down to where the shot actually hit. I retired my all time fave slug shooter a year ago.. still getting used to the new one.
At 500 yards its more elevation than windage.... unless its windy then both get tricky. I have shot targets at 500 before, but all I can say is I'll never win Camp Perry at that range. I hold my own below 200, but beyond that give me a bipod or a good solid rest.
Whats the word from the house inspection? still closing soon?
Whadya' marinate them in? I'm curious... The 1/2 pineapple, 1/2 soy sounds strange, but I'm telling you, they're awesome!! I posted the rest that goes in there earlier, but if anyone wants to try it out, let me know. I also have a KILLER salsa recipe that's super-easy to throw together, but that's one of those that needs to sit overnight before the flavor settles...
I'd like to try your pineapple recipe. We eat a lot of pineapple in our house (fresh) and that recipe sounds interesting.
Today we used olive oil (we use lots of that too as it's better for you), soy sauce, garlic cloves, onion, a little vinegar, worcestshire sauce, salt, pepper and a little bit of lemon juice. They are very tender and juicy.

Thanks, bro. It was my first try at them (thanks Joe!) and they came out great.
I just ate the left-overs.... Yeah, they're just as good today. Yours sounds good too, Scott!
One of my neighbors told me about that recipe, and it works with chicken fajitas too. I added a little wine (whatever I happen to have) for my own twist.
My daughter's car is a 2001 Chevy Cavalier. The A/C compressor isn't working, so I am going to get all new parts and my neighbor Steve has offered to fix it this week. My other neighbor works for O-Reilly Auto Parts and she can get me the parts at cost +10%. I am trying to quote the compressor and I need to know if it has a 5/8" or 3/4" suction port. How would I determine this? I know nothing about A/C compressors. Any of you know?
Very neat oliver! Ill be honest im not much for the narrow front tire stance, I prefer the wider stance . Thats just a personal preference (dont take any offence to it) but aside that, to me, it looks awesome!
Hows she run??
Im actually working on getting a massey harris 44 from a member of our local chapter, would make a neat project, and a cool acreage tractor!

She runs like a top! I have to agree with you on the wide front tractors though. but this tractor was cheap AT FIRST!!! My dad bought it for $200 we got at least $1000 in the engine and about another $3500-4500 in the rest of the tractor the engine was stuck the block was shot the tires and rims were junk. this has been a year and a half project. But it was worth it.
Just got back in town, went out to Buena Vista for 4 days and wow was it nice. Did not take the truck, car pooled with a friend. I don't have the pictures yet but should have some soon. 4 days and all I wanted to do when I got home was drive the truck around. Looks like most had a uneventful weekend which is good or bad depending. Dinner is on so I will see you all later tonight.

If it has steel tubes going to the compressor a measurement will probly tell the suctin port is the big one
