The problem is the F150 5L trucks usually came with a 4R70W transmission by 1996, but that is not 100% certain. Check the Trans Code listed on the sticker located on the driver side b-pillar. Trans Code U is a 4R70W. Trans Code E is an E4OD. The computers are not interchangeable because of the transmission differences. If you do have the 4R70W then your donor compatibility goes way down.
Thank you so much. Y'all are amazing! I love my truck so much and have over $30K invested in her over the past twelve years. She is stock and very clean. I refuse to get a new truck, against everyone else's advice. They just don't understand. It would be such shame to lose her over a $300 part. I'm going to try to post a picture of the lady y'all are trying to help me save. Thank you, again. At Home I40 Arizona-3rd trip cross country

Yes, it is Trans Code U. I believe the last computer came programmed E40D. It had a revolving misfire on four cylinders and the trans was acting like it thought it was a manual. Would long pause between gears, would rev up & slam into the next one. Thank you so much for the info.
Pdstark:
For calibration code 2-51E-R00 = Parts list 175.
Parts list 175 says when the truck was new it had F2TZ-12A650-ATB for the PCM
It also says r/b for it is F3TZ-12A650-TA.
So take your pick.
i would take that 1993, i recall reading a TSB which was fixed by the release of a PCM from around that time, but couldnt say with 100% certainty if it was that. but it sounds familar.
I use a 93 Bronco PCM in my 94 F150 with CA emissions. Both 5.8L with E4OD. I originally used it to test but stuck with it when I determined that the original PCM was bad.

As long as the donor has the same engine and transmission, most any '87 - '95 PCM will work. I'm pretty sure it doesn't even matter if it's a later black ICM (TFI). I say that having run a PCM from a '95 in my '91 4.9 F-150.
