Hey this is my first post so sorry if I have put it in wrong location. I just joined I have saw a lot of great info on here. I purchased a 1989 Ford f150 project truck it is automatic 4x4 with the 5.8 my issue is someone before me though it was smarter to try and run jumper wires to fuel pump distributor and anything else to try and get it to run. So I undone All they did fixed the problem (broken wire at solenoid to eec no power) im now able to run the truck but it's having some issues it just doesn't have the power or throttle response I feel it should it's like the timing is jumping around I know they replaced the eec but I don't think it's the correct one. I'm figuring the one they put in may be for a truck with MAF sensor but mine doesn't have that so I think it's not receiving the correct signal to advance timing I may be wrong correct me if I am. My calibration code is 9-64R-R12 if anyone has access to get the correct eec part number I would really appreciate it. I have called 7 dealerships and they can't find anything on it so any help is greatly appreciated.
For 9-64R-R12:
The E9TZ 12A650-AAC is the part number from the Ford computer look up for the 9-64R-R12 with a 5.8L.
The number on the unit would be E9TF 12A650-AA1C, or AA2C.

First post! woohoo! Man i should have joined this forum YEARS ago! The info on here is priceless to say the least! Anyway, my question is for subford. It looks like you are an information whipping post and I apologize about asking too many questions ahead of time, but I hope you know that it is respectable of you and very much appreciated!
That being said, I have a late 92 early 93 F250 4x4 with a 460 efi. I say it that way because when i look up parts, its a combination of old (earlier year 460s) and revised parts (current year 460s) all from factory. Its really kind of a PIA. He's got 407,000 on original motor ....side note...actually comical.....when it was about to turn over to 400,000, i was waiting to take that picture aaaaannnd, the zeros came but the 3 stayed! What a letdown lol! Those damn dashes! Anyway, I also need to get the calibration parts list, and anything else you can give me please. 1993 F250 460 4x4 Auto
VIN: 1FTHX26GXPKA69730
Calibration: 2-98A-R10 / F2AE-6E061-GKF
Also, as time keeps going, oem parts, as you know, are becoming scarce. What parts manufactures do we trust for replacements, i.e. fuel pressure regulator, idm, etc.? I wrench on all my trucks so I know a good amount of knowledge, but getting more info is never enough lol. The problem I'm having right now is that the exhaust sounds muffled, when I shift into any gear, it wants to lunge, and when in park and idle, it'll almost stalls but then jumps up to 1700 rpms and stay there. Runs rich too...fuel smell is real! I'm thinking MAP and or Regulator...possibly idm? It's always fun lol!
Anyway, THANK YOU!

Awesome man! Thats golden! As far as the o2, I changed that out about 2 yrs ago. So maybe 17,000 ish miles.
So thanks again subford for the list! Considering that a couple of my parts like the TPS and IDM weren't right, etc, etc. That being said, quick question about my ecm(s). I say ecm(s) because a shop had to replace per insurance.
Backstory...while rolling through a 40 yr storm, I went through an intersection and blazed through about 5ft of water that you couldn't gage due to rain. Immediately truck started to act funny and there were a couple electrical issues. Insurance made me tow it to a shop as to not create more issues or damage. The shop changed some sensors, checked grounds and connections and to no avail, ended up swapping out the ecm. Now mind you, it took about 4 days to get the ecm in, and it was back to running. They asked if I wanted the original back and said yes.
While working on the truck today I pulled out the ecm to check it to make sure it was the right one and to check the inside for issues. Thank god it was the right one, but I realized it wasn't a reman, just used. No biggie, if it works, it works. Opened it up and found no leaks or burns but he board looked old and not very glossy. Got me thinking...I grabbed my original and opened it up too see what happened and WOW! The inside looks way better than the used one. No leaks or burns and the board is pretty glossy! The metal case is even in better shape with no rust, as the used one is rusty in places.
So my question is, is there really nothing wrong with my original ecn, and they couldn't figure it out and just swapped it? I mean it did sit for 4 days and the water that was causing the issue more than likely dissipated and so when they put in the new used ecm....it ran normally? I took some pics of both so you can see. Let me know what you think! Swapped used (in truck) Used used Original original original
