Jacob, I'm looking at 28 and thats about the only way I talk to people anymore. Even my folks txt me. Its nothing for me to send and receive 80 in a day(all together). Between finding out whats going on and joking with people and talking to my wife. It also aint bad to have a job that I can do stuff like that on either.
im 16 and i havent fallen to the texting abbreviations too much i send maybe 80 texts a month but they're really handy for asking my dad a question at school or seeing if friends can hang out
You are not a normal child Jacob. I have a 14 year old sister and all she does is text. I probably sent close to 750 of them a month myself. Texting has ruined the way I type, I wasn't the brightest bulb in the box to begin with but you throw in texting and I now look really dumb most of the time
I am looking at 40 years old. and texting is all i do. Only problem is i can't spell for beans and my fingers take up 6 keys. Feel like tossing the phone up against the wall sometimes. Takes me a half hour to type a sentence with these big numb fingeezrs.
i can not see how people can send 500+ texts a month or those people who can sit there an text in school i would be afraid of being caught because then my parents would have to pick up my phone at school and id get in trouble with my parents
By the time you talk to 6 or more different people it all adds up in a days time. Then you got your joke texts too. I get at least one a day it seems like.

I haven't sent / received 80 text messages in my life. It takes me 3 times as long to send a text as it does to type something on the computer, and I have one of those so called smart phones.

500+ text a month is very easy. I have had some months where I am up over 1500 texts. I am just old enough (28) that cell phones weren't huge when I was in HS. I didnt get one until the day I graduated.
I think it is a good thing that you are afraid to text in school. Stay that way. I know my parents would have been PISSED if they would have been called to come pick up something at the school.

I'm exactly opposite. I can text like crazy and my typing is slow as the three year itch. My buddies wife started calling me freddy fast fingers because of my texting and NOTHING else. I've seen how some things can get twisted around here. HA HA
I'm surprised they let you kids keep your cell phones in school. They're cracking down on them big time around here. First offense is the phone is confiscated until the parent picks it up. Second offense is a three day suspension. Third offense is expulsion. This is just for having a phone. Makes no mention at all of using it.
Evidently the big problem schools are having with cell phones is the cheating. First period English student will take a picture of the test and text it to all his/her buddies in the later classes.

That's how it should be everywhere. Period. I like to have had a heart attack when my oldest daughter provided my eldest grandson with his own Nextel.
My nine year old is just jonesing for her own phone, but I just can't get my brain wrapped around the idea that a litte kid needs her own phone. It's rediculous.
Hell, I've only carried one for the last few years....and sometimes wish I didn't have it.
if the teacher catches you with your phone the phone is taken awayand your parents have to pick it up. technically you're not supposed to have phones in school but if you're like me and leave it in your pocket and dont pull it out in school then you're ok
Cellphones in our family were not an option until we were 18 and could/would pay for it ourselves. That being said, I was in college before I got my first cell phone and I am none the worse for it. I also text very little, you miss so much of the person's attitude or emotion in a text or even typing for that matter. I would much rather talk to someone than text. Even then I don't talk that much on the phone either. Maybe I'm just strange, I don't know, I am just too busy to do all that kind of stuff.
