Scott, I hope your coworker is going to be ok. Sounds like he received some pretty serious injuries. I was afraid it might be a BWI before I even clicked the link. That really angers me that someone would do that.
A big local lake around here, The Lake of the Ozarks, has a lot of problems with BWI as well. Every year, you can count on at least one person dying on that lake on every major summer holiday -- Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day -- all from BWI. Happens every year without fail. It's fun to go out on the lake over a holiday, but I stay off that lake.
Unfortunately, Lake Conroe has that problem too. That, coupled with how small it is, makes it dangerous.
I never drink when we are out there. Susan would kill me if I were to hurt the kids or someone else because I was being stupid and got drunk.
We are taking the ski out this weekend but we are going to go early Saturday and be off of the lake by early afternoon. I want to be back at the house grilling steaks by the time the drunks take over.
I will keep you guys up to date on his progress. They updated us at work today a few times.
Man, that's bad news. Boats and booze do not mix. I gave up the Sea-Doo's a few years back and migrated to 4-wheelers. I know that ATV's can be deadly too (see LeRoi Moore - DMB) but I was tired of the drunks on the local lakes. Just took the fun out of the day at the beach. I miss them but not the near misses.
Scott, I hope that your buddy will come through this okay. I cant believe what I just read, I am in shock. That is absolutely crazy. Please let us know how he is doing when you find something out. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Scott, please pass on our prayers to your co-worker. It is hard to understand some people who think that they can drink and drive a boat without being a hazard to everyone else around them. A neighbor and I were pulling his daughter skiing when a boat cut behind us and ahead of his daughter. The neighbor cut the power so he wouldn't pull her into the stupid boat that cut her off. Once you experience something like that, you realize the danger and stupidity of the drunks on the water ....or anywhere.

drunk boating should be illegal and if it is then why dont we have lake cops
It's a big time crime around here. Usually there's not enough Rangers for all the idiots on the lake. What makes it worse is the holiday weekends. Truly, amateur hour.
drunk boating should be illegal and if it is then why dont we have lake cops
It is, and they do. But it's like driving a vehicle while drunk. You can't catch all of them.
Scott. Your co-workers family has along painful road ahead of them. Infections, surgery, re constructive surgery & rehab are going to take a lot ot time. We'll keep them in our prayers. Tell them to hang in there and be strong.
I'll go off topic (which means truck related in the OT thread). How many of ya'll have had your windshield replaced? What did it run? I caught a nice rock today that put a pretty little crack right in front of my face. I'm out of town about 6 hours from home. There's a place that will do it for $145 with a lifetime warranty against wind noise and leaks (if I felt inclined to take a 12 hour round trip for the warranty). Does that sound too cheap, or in line with what it should be?
