I got to work from 8:30 until 6:00 on Saturday - but I was re-organzing the shop - so not much actual progress got done. My shop is much nicer to walk around and work in now though
yeah - I have to do a BIG redo like this every couple of months as I sell or aquire more sh&%. I just keep bringing more and more in so I have to re-pack everything every once in a while - haha
Truf to the garage. I didnt get anything done for the same reason. I gotta get one side of the garage clean out so the wife can put her car in there this winter. Shop doesnt look much better. I did get some work done to my crossmember today at work but not much pic worthy.
Progress. Ok so what i did was cut a piece of 2"x4" 1/4" wall box to length. Slid in 1"x1 3/8" solid steel in to cap it off. I drilled two 5/8" holes in each 4" side of the tube to plug weld and then welded the face also. Took factory 78/9 hangers and cut off one side. Im welding them to the tube. These are not fully welded. Im goin to weld them both as seen then get the insides sand blasted to weld. Ill be adding more to it later.
Here's how Scott Freeman built his. He has an early 70s frame under his truck. His is completely bolt on.
I built a VERY similar one for my forest service Dodge, but I used 3" channel for my sideplates. My theory was that is resisted bending better than flat, and it also protects the bolt heads/threads.
DANG!!! that's one good lookin' Ford! Oh hey that's mine.........
thanks Ted, makes me feel good, you must like the way it turned out.......
