hwy 26 is 55 mph and some people fly by at almost 80 mph!
there is stretch of 26 thats real dangerous at curtain times of the day. there's about a 40 mile stretch between gresham and mt. hood thats bad!
i don't mind people driving in excess of the limit if conditions are favorable and the area isn't populated with kids and pets who can and may forget themselves and dart across the road. we've all done our share of 120+km/h on the highway and its been perfectly harmless. speeding through a school zone or residential area should be more heavily penalized. what peaves me more is when the law doesn't obey what they shoud be enforcing.
yeah we have deer that cross bluff rd late at night. and we live 3 blocks north of 26
but 26 runs thru sandy the speed limit thru town is 25 mph and trust me sandy pd, osp,
or the sherriff will get you. if you speed or act up inapropiately.
that was that hi that went thru.
Regarding the speeding, I think too many people use and abuse the speed limit on the highway and in town (myself included)
I think the speed limit should be the speed limit, and anyone going over should get a ticket if caught, regardless if your on the highway or in a school zone or on a gravel road. (myself included!)
I have seen alot of drivers that just cannot control a vehicle at the speed limit (and they actually think they are good drivers!!).
Jack i have a question for you, regarding your heavy truck expertise!
One thing i have to "fix" on my truck, is there are three air gauges in the dash, and the guy said the dash lights behind the gauges are too dim. Now I took them out, tested the lights, and they are working just fine.
Do you know of any way to get a brighter light back there? I took the one gauge right out, and of course you cant take it apart (I was just gonna scratch some of the paint of the gauge face off to let more light in)
Ideas, suggestions?
So far all i can see to do is clean the outside as best I can, and if they dont pass that (which is odd because they work fine, and they let enough light in so a guy can see the gauges) then I was thinking about going to the truck wrecker out here and rounding up some from a newer truck that may be brighter.
You know when its gonna get fixed? Right after someone gets seriously hurt or killed.
you know what prep?? i'd hate to see it come to that, but i also don't think that'd make a fix happen. think of my other concern... farm equipment moving about at night without pilots or proper flare lighting... one of my dear friends might be alive if there were stricter regulations being enforced... i know she's not the only one... i've heard of lots in the past also...
prep, about your truck, could you wire LED's behind there?? they'd be a lot brighter. thats getting pretty nit picky in my mind, but i don't know big rigs at all...
The gauges have a hole in them where ya stick the light, I have no idea if they sell an led that would fit under there, but ya know what, its worth a look at princess auto! I never even thought about led, thanks for the thought man!
I hope there is one for dash lights then! I checked my dash lights again tonight, and the air gauges are a tad dimmer then the speedo, tach, and the other gauges, but not by much and a guy can easily see them.
Ah well, gotta play their game!
Morris where do you take your gravel truck to get safetied at? I went to western star.
Sounds like you have an idiot for an inspection tech, let me know who/where it is so I can avoid him.......I can`t be bothered wasting time on non issues with him!
Then again maybe he`s almost legally blind and not fit for doing anything else........
I dont know who, but its at western star haha. Next time I am gonna go somewhere else, but at the same time, my truck didnt have much wrong with it, besides little stupid things like that, then I had to change some bushings in the suspension (which I did with hand tools!).
So where do ya take yours too? It would be nice to find a place that didnt worry about the damn dash lights being too dim haha.
