Good day Ford folks, another nice one!
My partner won`t be back till Feb 4 Sherm, sounds like she had a good start on her tan a few days ago.
I did send out an all points bulletin on Gerry, no reply yet.
No way of keeping any vehicle clean around here either Grant, it`s going to be a mess when it freezes solid next week.
Where have you been trucking Ray?
I`m not into sledding either John.
Makes me laugh how we are excited about 38*F weather, JWC says it's going to be cool for a bit at 40*F Hows the employment scene in Tennessee?
Employment is Good if you have a skill /trade and certs . If you don't ... not so good . I am in a trade , have certifications , and have been at the same place for 15 years . . Regular Joe , has to get lucky to get a good factory job . A poor one is easy to get though . I , If needed , could find work in one or two days . Or open up my own business , my wife has wanted me to do for years ...
Auto mechanics for the last 20 years . Did a bit of factory work , Not my cup of tea ! Drove a truck for a bit , first wife wanted me home more . Liked the farm work before ,no money around here as a farm hand . A few other things along the way . Went with something I like , and , can make money at . Things have changed fast in my field though . Lots of learning to keep current .
Morning Fellas... Another beautiful day here. A grosbeak just learned that the boxer is pretty damn quick. I hope the little bugger survives, but its missing some feathers!
End of next week speaks of some colder weather. I guess no complaining is really merited. We've had a very nice January this year. We were going to take the kids tubing @ Assessippi ski park this weekend until we looked up the rates. It would cost $80 just for the lift passes, and the hill is only open noon-4:30. That is ridiculous.
There's an out of town crew building a big condo complex here in Yorkton. Early in the week they were lifting a wall with their telehandler and touched the power lines, knocking power out to the east side of town. The only person hurt was the guy on the tag line. Lucky they had enough training to know not to jump out of the cab or move on the ground in any way. They have been shut down by OHS of course. Just a reminder to always be aware of your surroundings!!
Afternoon everyone, lazy day for me today. Yesterday I took my truck to work to park in our wash bay to thaw. Our mechanical supervisor was in a bad mood and tried to give me crap that I can't leave my truck in there and it wasn't meant for thawing personal vehicles. I just told him if some one needs the wash bay I will move my truck.
The roads have gotten slippery over the past few days. On my way home from work, I was driving my usual speed, but had to slow down because I caught up to a slow moving vehicle. Once the on coming vehicle passed, I gave my truck some throttle to pass the slow vehicle and my rear tire hit a pothole throwing the back of my truck sideways while in the oncoming lane trying to pass the slow van. I was able to regain control of the truck and kept it on the road, and didn't hit the van I was almost beside while trying to pass it. Still passed the van but I slowed down after that. Lesson learned, just because you have driven the road many times without problems does not mean the road isn't icy.
Anyone have a phone number for Gerry? Just to make sure he's alright.
Nice Combine Collin!! Is it all loaded up with the GPS/Autosteer systems and such?
Makes me laugh how we are excited about 38*F weather, JWC says it's going to be cool for a bit at 40*F Hows the employment scene in Tennessee?
John, that wind must be howling down there!!!
Have a great day everyone, is your partner back yet Morris? Did she bring you a nice tan?
Where the eff is Gerry?
Rained here all morning and past noon but it is warm enough that there is no ice and now the wind is blowing and drying things out. We spent the day at the rink as it was Matthew's hockey tournament today so we missed most of the crazy weather today.
Thanks Sherm, our combine has a lot of new features to us but no autosteer. It is quite an upgrade from our old one though.
How much snow do you have out there Colin, we have about a foot and a half in our yard total, it got up to +3* yesterday but only reached -9* today but was nice and sunny for a change.
Almost there. Just got to get a starter, clean & paint the alt/ps pump, Paint the upper intake plenum, etc. Did you get anything done today John? I wish I had more room at home in the garage. I'd have the engine here, and Dawn would be happier if I spent more time at home on the weekends, lol.
