As long as you have the fluid reservoir full then the whining is not going to hurt anything, it's normal for those pumps, it just annoys some folks like me.
91 Stroker if and when you get your questions answered please let me know. I have the same questions even if we do have different truck (93 F350) but it sure would be nice if I could replace stock reservior with-out taking off bracket and pulley
well i want to attempt this when i yank the 351 to reseal and rod, my truck as always been lifted and whines horribly , the e-van saginaw pump is 65 from car quest. dont ask what ford wants for one....
so im about to do the switch to my 93 150 w/ the 5.0, and i have a question or two. one, do i need any new hoses or will the stock ones fit? two, do i need a pulley puller or do i just take it off? also do i need a new pulley and can i simply reuse the stock reservior? thanks for all the help fellas that ps pump is really annoyin.
Yes, you need a new pressure hose. (you should replace the return also).
Yes you need a pulley puller(rent or borrow from auto part store)
You simply reuse your existing pulley on new pump.
New pump comes with new reservoir. (I do not believe they are interchangeable anyhow).
It's really not difficult. Go back to the beginning of this thread and all your questions should be answered.
Sounds like the used van pumps are the way to go if looking to save a few $$$$.
car quest e-van saginaw, for like a 95 application, i just re-read the entrie 5 pages and found that i missed the point of needing the e-van engine bracket , i have one coming from a junk yard. so hopefully this cures the mount issue. my question though is is there suppsoed to be a bracket that sits over the pump body or does it bolt up directly to the bracket?
so , now that i have the right bracket, what fluid ?, still use mercon or go with the clear stuff that gms use? i am painting and reassembling as we speak, i ended up doing a front axle overhaul as well as everything was seized and nasty
so the new bracket is in, the pump, i didnt mount the pulley yet, i had to teak the ac line to clear the fill and cap and the new pressure line to make the right angle to the gear box. what did you guys do for the return hose? mins too short ,wont reach
The factory return line works fine with the 20-6244 pump.
Sounds like the e-van pump is different.
You could cut the rubber off the original return line, single flair the metal cooler tube part that is attached to the crossmember and hose clamp a replacement hose onto it. I've done that before. Just get some 3/8" (double check size) hi-pressure hose that they sell in bulk at auto parts store.
so to whoever said that the c2 ford ps pulley would fit the saginaw was waaay wrong. i now have one coming from a yard tomamrow. its done other than that,

I don't think anyone said that here.
This thread is about the 20-6244 pump, not the e-van saginaw like you installed.
The factory pulley DOES mount up to the 20-6244.
