Yeah, hence that horseshoe bracket right? It was my understanding that the pump itself won't fit any of the F150s or econolines, so they are fitted with a bracket to line it up

the late 80's and early 90's e- vans used a saginaw pump that actually looks almost identical to the gm style. ill try to take a picture of mine tonight. the bracket is different between the f series and e vans for this reason.

So I'd have to find a Saginaw pump off an f-series if I want it to come with the bracket that'll fit my truck is what you're saying?

The black horseshoe adapter is to adapt and fit the Saginaw to the diecast later style bracket.
Cardone made them up this way but there is too little demand now.
Napa still lists the NSP 816795 online but I've been told by others on the forum they can't get it even though it's shown as available.

None of the factory installed Saginaws came with a horseshoe adapter.

The Saginaw came in two styles.
The oval reservoir that 86F150302 shows, and the "canned ham" style with a triangular metal body.
Why can't you just use the stamped steel bracket from a van with the same engine you have?

Shouldn't these have the black horseshoe shaped bracket to fit the 3-bolt pattern in my truck? I'm very confused..

I just went to NAPA Online and searched the above number.

Select 'shop online' and then say 'no' to specific vehicle popup prompt windows.
It comes up at $92.49 w/ a $50 core.
You can see 4 views of the pump with standoff bracket.
It has the correct hose adapter already attached to the rear.

Didin't know this. Does this mean that those of us with the cardone units can bolt the horseshoe on a regular GM pump if & when it craps out? I wonder about the shaft diameter as well.

I only had found a single e-van with my motor, and glancing at the pump it looked as if it was mounted in a totally different fashion than my pump mounts. I'll try to get over to a pick-n-pull today and if its not raining too hard i'll snap some shots to try to illustrate what I mean.

I wonder if I try to order one from napa if they'll be able to fish one out of the warehouse somewhere.. seems like it's worth a shot.

I don't doubt that it mounts differently, look at the lack of space in the van's engine bay.
If anything I'd expect there's more than enough room in the truck to use the van style bracket.
If it changes the belt length you'd need would it really matter that much as long as the pulleys are in the same plane?

I'll see if I can pull one from a van today and get a way for it to fit. I'm not sure if there is a way to get it to mount and keep the pulley in plane with everything else.

What belt are you using with the E-van bracket and pump?

Excellent. Last question (probably) - how did you 'extend' the return line?

Edit... Nevermind, didn't realize it was just a hose connection rather than a fitting like the pressure hose. Now I just need to chase down a bracket.
