Just took my 05 F-350 in for the O5e15 recall last week. I had no problems prior
to taking it in, and was running fine. After the work was done it still runs great
but the MPG is still at 14.6 (same as before). One thing did change after the flash. The alternator output delay time, (60 sec.), now is activated after every
start cycle. It used to delay the output when the temp was below a set level
and make the glowplugs go through a complete cycle.
Other then that, no problems!!
Used 2 full tanks of fuel since recall, mpg is down about 1 to 1.5 mpg no dk added last two tanks will try that next. Power and everything else is the same as it was after reflash last year (lost power then), except turbo shows aout 5 psi higher.
I have seen other posts about the higher than usuall boost at cruise, My thought on that is maybe they did reduce engine horsepower so now the turbo has to add more boost for the same speed. I used to be able to cruise at about 68 at about 2psi now on the same road at 68 I show 7-9psi.
Don't be so quick to judge your power loss. I guess its possible that they detuned it, but i doubt it. I think it may be psychological, i know when i read about all these posts, i all of a sudden have problems. As far as your mileage, two tanks isnt enough to tell in my opinion. I can vary between 12-14.8 mpg in any two given tanks. Id have to do about 10 fill ups to make any kind of decision.
I had the 05E15 recall done on my F250 just after Christmas. Since then, I have seen an approx. 25-30% drop in fuel milage in normal everyday driving (half highway/half city)...mpg dropped from approx. 13 to a flat 10 mpg.... have gone through 4 tanks of fuel since then..... as I had additional work to be done on the truck, I took it back to the Ford dealer thinking that maybe they screwed up the reflash of the computer... the dealer told me that couldn't be the problem since they hadn't reflashed the computer (according to the paperwork, they did replace the pressure sensor and wiring bundle)....I thought the reflash was part of the recall....am I getting the straight scoop here?
I have been stuck on the side of the road, twice, for a bad pressure sensor. The truck will idle, thats it, no peddle response. i HATED MY FLASH. The truck got louder and my mileage decreased. The dealer will NOT reverse it. But its better than the trunc not working...
Most have had no problems with the flash, most techs say we shouldn't have any problems with the flash, and yet some of us have had similar occurances...truck still runs fine (as rdranman reports), mine runs fine, but a drop in mpg (usually around 2 to 3 mpg in the city) and a drop in power have occuried.
I am wondering too, since the flash I notice that my truck drops into OD pretty quick at slower speeds, and seems to be lugging the motor. However, at 80 mph, the slightest increase on the peddle and it immediately goes into passing gear, and gives me very little increase in power and the rpms are way up. At 60mph, when I slightly step on the peddle I get power but it doesn't leave OD (and rpms are around 15 to 1800). Seems to me it should be the other way around. Any ideas?
I had this EBP recall done last month. I'm on my second tank of fuel and see no difference from the recall or the flash to the latest and greatest concoction of bleeding down the injectors.
I don't judge by just one tank of fuel for fuel economy changes, but the half tank at time of service didn't net my normal numbers. This tank full however, it appears that things are working just as they have been. Even with winter diesel.
Well on the way to a 600mile tank. (34ish of a 38 gallon tank)
I see some boost number concerns with some posts here. I still have no problem attaining 30psi and holding it there on a long pull, (4" exhaust has been on for 35k miles), so I can't blame the flash for anything. -Yet. Starts fine when it's cold, with, just a different pop-off sound when it fires.
Motor improved, mileage stayed the same. Very unhappy with transmission reprogramming for my towing application. Found some leaking on the bell housing and took truck in at 35,000 (May 2006) and they said motor-out repair under warranty. Salesman offered me a 2006 SRW Regular cab for $1,200 trade. I took it! Now happy(er) but miss my 4.10 rear end. Oh well.
