Just had mine in again 3rd time in 3 weeks, they did the recall and I lost 3mpg I went in and complained they hooked a computer up to it and it got 12mpg and they looked at me like that is what it is supposed to be, went from that dealer straight to another local dealer to see if they can help. The first dealer does not do anything as far as complaints go except band aid it and tell me drive it and see what happens, Im in there weekly lately trying to get my truck finished. I have consistently also been loosing antifreeze over the last 15,000 miles, they replaced the overflow tank and it still does it. I went in there today and they told me to keep a eye on it. Well I am and the level of antifreeze still goes down until the overflow tank is empty. Really frustrated at this point with both my 03 F-350 and my 05 F-350.

DO NOT GET THIS REFLASH!!! If you want to cut your trucks nuts off get this flash. If you don't have problems with your factory tune, don't have them reflash it. I lost 8psi of boost before the truck up shifts. Before the reflash my truck holds 24psi at peak and held 24psi when it up shifted. Now the turbo boost peaks at 20psi and drops to 12psi before it up shifts.

A stock 6.0 here at 6000ft peaks at 235-245HP, I dynoed at 212HP! They all told me "whats wrong with your truck?"

The dealer said they will check all the sensors, but they can't put the factory tune back in it.... so if nothing has failed on my truck, I got screwed!

It still blows black smoke at cold start up too!!

I went and asked the same thing today, nothing has failed on my truck either and they can not put the program back they took out. They even went as far as telling me to put my stock air cleaner system back in and my fuel mileage might come back. I went to another dealer and they are checking into some things but as of right now I'm not a happy camper. Every one I talk to that has had the update that really uses their truck for towing weekly is complaining of the same thing. Bad mileage and loss of power.

I put my stock filter set up back in before the re flash. The only thing on my truck are my tri pod, and muffler delete pipe! At this rate if they keep relashing to de tune them, they will FORCE us as buyers to use the chips and tuners!! This sucks!!

I haul cars and trailers for a living and a 3mpg loss overnight is a big deal. I talked to my dealer about using chips and they said it was no big deal to them if I used one. I had a superchips in it for a while but with the reflash it has to be updated to work. So now I have to dig up a receipt for the tuner I bought a year ago to have it updated or that is going to cost more also. Im more concerned about being on the road and something happening and having a chip in and some dealer making a big deal about it. When I was having problems with my overflow the one dealer asked a ton of questions about tuners because they thought I had a blown head gasket. They showed me a service bulletin that said if there is any evidence of a chip being there they will wash there hands of it.

Okay, my report...a rather benign change. Shift points are higher, the truck does have some stumble at first startup when it gets chilly (but I let it sit on high idle for a couple of minutes and it makes things right, good for the engine anyway) I actually GAINED 1.5 mpg city driving. I will not know the towing figures until my boat is ready for splash. I was getting 13 mpg towing a 5000 pound boat and trailer. I have a 2005 6.0 with the tow package and the 3.73 limited slip diff, 4x4.

To those who have done the reflash:

What is your turbo boost doing? If I floor it, my turbo boost drops from 20psi (used to be 24psi) down to 12-14psi before it upshifts...??? WTF? It used to hold the 24psi untill right after the upshift. And it never dropped more than 4psi.

I've put about 600 miles on the truck since last week when I had the recall flash. I notice that if I push the go pedal very much, then the turbo boost is a good bit higher than before the flash. My fuel mileage looked bad for the first 100 miles, but now has come around nicely. I have not reset the lie-o-meter since I got it reflashed and I'm currently showing 19.1 mpg - almost all of this has been highway. This is the same mileage as before the flash.

I have not pulled my 5000 lb trailer yet, but I'll be anxious to see if my mpg goes down from the typical 13 mpg I got when pulling that (horse trailer and it catches lots of air).

I'll be doing a 600 mile trip in a couple of weeks with the trailer. I'm hoping that I don't get the loss that cwrdy got, but I'm wondering since I believe the boost may be higher, which will translate to worse mileage than the 13 mpg.

05 F250 FX4; 3.73 w/ 18" wheels; no mods - 36,000 miles - never had a problem

Had the "requested" reflash done today so I asked my wife how the truck
felt when she picked it up (its her truck) and her answer was "Ok why"
After reading some of negative feedback in this forum I proceded out on a test drive , now mind you it is not easy trying to keep your eyes on the boost
guage and the narrow strech of open road where I live while rappidly aproaching the 90plus mph speeds but I did my best and to my amazement
I dont think there was anything I heard or felt that were different before the flash! The boost guage stayed between 20 and 30 never dropping to 20 and peaking right on 30 at 90mph (little fluctuations during shifts but its always done that)!
As far as our trucks nuts being cut off ? Not that I can tell.......and for a +1 or -3 change in mpg Its way too early. No transmission change that I can
tell.

I,ll let you know if something changes

P.S. that was actually the first time I have seen the boost guage hit 30
without the fifth wheel attached?

Then that sounds like good news, both for you and me. Maybe something has come loose or is not working the way it should on my truck. I hope so this thing is gutless.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to have been absent for such a long while, but I was EXTREMELY busy at my work, and little to no time off for many months.

I have about all of 3,186.0 miles on my '04...I know that's low.....But I use it as an RV, for 4 wheeling, some hunting, and to tow the quads and motorcycles on the weekends...Oh, also just for fun driving around town...

I NEVER really wanted to do this reflash, but read enough on here that it seemed like it was an "OK" thing, instead of a nightmare. I called the dealer and set up the reflash/sensor change for yesterday, my first three day weekend in about four months.

Suprisingly, everything went smoothly at the dealer...the put me in a brand new Taurus, and finished the work on my truck about 4 hours sooner than they initially said.

My driving imressions, so far, are good. I cannot feel any major differences anywhere. The power is still very impressive (it's totally stock), and the shift points and all other driving actions seem to be as they were. I live in the Western Republic, so my '04 is a CA emissions vehicle. But even with that handicap, it still seems to run great!

I looked at some of the pictures posted here showing how much crap the EGR puts back in throught the system! I will probably end up removing the EGR, once someone figures out a good way to do so on a CA vehicle without CEL issues.

Anyway, thanks for all the good info as always....

Take care all,

JJ

I took my E series in friday morning and recieved a call almost 3 hrs. later telling me that the truck was done.

I took it out on city roads and a short highway drive and all seems great! In fact runs real good I`m going to give it 2 ~ 3 fillups before I make any results with regards to milage.

My report on this 05e15 recall is that it is good. Can see no negative driving this past week and even tow one of my trailer with 4500# total. The biggest and best thing to come out of this recall is the cruise control work so much better. No more downshifting two or three gears when resuming the cruise control. My judgment is that this is a good recall/flash.

I think we are not going to see the TRUE effects of this reflash until there are a few driving cycles logged in. The engine electronics have to relearn and adapt, YOU have to relearn and adapt, and things that your truck did before may not happen now. I think my truck is a bit louder at idle. It gets slightly better fuel economy. As reported, initially there was a 20 psi boost limit but that has eliminated itself with a combination of city and hard acceleration in highway driving. Drive it like you stole it and things will remedy themselves.
