Had the recall performed on Valentine's Day. My truck ran pretty good before, but the one thing I have noticed is that is starts up much faster than it previously did. And cold idle seems to be smoother.

I just had my "voluntary recall" done this afternoon also. I agree with ecky. My rig definately starts much quicker. It also seems that the boost heads north much sooner. My 04 does not have a boost guage, it just feels stronger on the low end. My truck seems to be running great. I put about 80 miles on it today and am very happy so far. I do not know for sure but it does seem to be a tad quieter at highway speeds.

Recall 05E15

I got my ltr today, Don't want to do it, not yet anyway. My 04 has 46,200 miles on it and gets 17.5 mpg with everyday driving town and 70 mph. Have never had any problems what so ever. If Ford could be 100% sure they wouldn't screw up my power, mileage and performance I'd have it done. If isn't broke, well you know the rest. My 2 cents.

No "Turbo Fart". I took my truck to shop today, Mechanic said it looks like a leaking head gasket. It seems Back Pressure is going through the water reservoir and creating this sound as it comes out of the cap.
We will see what happens next.

Just got my truck back from having the recall done, as well as the egr cooler tube for a second time, Seem to have the power back that I lost last year when they flashed it during the last cooler change will know more when I drive it longer. Always had turbo fart but seems to be more prevelant maybe building boost sooner, will try to watchit tomorrow.

Recall 05e15

I got this recall done when I took my 05 F250 5,300 mile truck in for an oil leak. It appears to run much better at cold starts in IL winter weather. It is not as loud, and smokes less at startups also. I can't tell either way if performance has changed. I can still leave faint black marks on the asphalt roads by my house from a dead stop. I did notice that the turbo gauge does go over 21psi when cold. This used to be 30psi (give or take 2psi). I can only get it close to 30psi after it has warmed up and I take of from a stop and I get up to 60mph it finally climbs to over 21psi. I’m not sure how much I trust the gauge…I purchased a diesel, not a gas truck so none of these things concerned me either way. I can’t comment on the fuel mileage changes yet, because it is back in the service department for the 3rd week/time for the same oil leak that they can’t find, but they sure know how to drive my truck. It now has 6,200 miles on it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Honestly! I don't know. I didn't notice the sound until after the recall. I did notice that there is more boost pressure under normal driving than before. With that said, maybe it was enough to push it over the edge. I don't know.

recall 05e15

Now that you mention it (bonehead_98), I also noticed that just traveling down the road at 55-65 mph, the boost appears to be 5-6psi higher than before. I can post more about the fuel mileage after I get a chance to drive it more.

I've got 3000 miles on my 05 since the reflash (05b32 I think). I noticed more boost (probably an extra 5-7 psi) and less mpg for the first couple of hundred miles, but then it went back to normal and I can't tell any difference now. Some other posts here credit that to the computer relearning the shift patterns for the first hundred miles or so.

At 65 mph with no headwind, I'm about 5psi. Same as before. My mileage at that speed is about 19.5 (lie-o-meter - same as before the flash). Last week, I traveled 275 miles with a 30 mile per hour tailwind on the interstate at 73 mph and got 22.3 mph on the LOM. That's the best I've ever shown. Previous best was this summer with 22.1 mpg on a trip from Houston to Dallas with a 20mph tailwind. Again, that's resetting the LOM once up to speed on the freeway - a pure highway mpg.

I typically travel 80% highway and my LOM shows 18 to 18.5. I show about one mpg less when hand calculated.

I didi notice a little more boost ast cruise this weekend on a 400 mile trip but no diference in power or fuel milage when running empty at about 70 mph I got 18.5 mpg. Thats about as high as I can get with 18000 mi on truck. It also starts the same.

It has to learn how to do things and adapt to our driving style ALL OVER AGAIN! Remember how crappy the fuel economy was when you FIRST got the truck, but it slowly came up? Same thing.
Very true. New flashes erase all adaptive human interface input. So basically have an ECU at baseline. It should take atleast 500 miles of input for the ECU to adapt to all sensor outputs and fine tune the engine's performance. You would be surprised how advanced ECU's have become.

I am still waiting to do my flash since my truck is running very well with decent mpg. All my buddies tell me to just chip it and forget it. Decisions decisions...

I might have mine in to replace the SENSOR ONLY. My question is, how can i tell if my sensor even needs to be replaced? Anyone have OLD and NEW part numbers?
